Helping farmers understand the production process.
To help farmers understand and comply with the process of producing and raising clean agricultural products , the Sub-Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development (CL,CB&PTTT) of the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment has organized 28 training courses on food safety for farmers in the province. This aims to raise awareness, knowledge, and practical skills, helping farmers produce safe agricultural products, minimize the risk of food poisoning, and protect consumer health. For farmers engaged in livestock and crop cultivation, it is crucial to pay attention to the safe and proper use of pesticides; absolutely no antibiotics or banned chemicals should be used in livestock farming.
Farmers in Hamlet A, Hoa Binh Commune, are being guided on producing safe agricultural products.
Mr. Truong Van Qui, Head of the Processing and Market Development Department of the Provincial Sub-Department of Quality Control, Processing and Market Development, said: “For farmers, the Sub-Department focuses on production conditions to ensure safety right from the first stage. For farming, livestock breeding, aquaculture, fishing, and salt production , the initial production stage is crucial. If people disregard safety for profit and continue to use banned antibiotics and chemicals during this stage, these substances cannot be removed during the preliminary processing stage. Therefore, the Sub-Department focuses on vigorous propaganda and mobilization of farmers to raise their awareness and responsibility in producing and supplying clean and safe agricultural products to the market.”
The product processing procedures at Da Giau Dried Shrimp Production Facility are strictly monitored.
In Hoa Binh commune, the Provincial Department of Quality Control, Food Safety and Rural Development organized six training courses on food safety in the production process, thereby contributing to raising the awareness of local farmers. Mr. Tran Giao Linh, a farmer in Thi Tran B hamlet, Hoa Binh commune, said: “I am raising breeding ducks, and their feed usually consists of rice bran, broken rice, and ground banana stalks. After the training, I learned to utilize other products such as green vegetables and leftover food to feed the ducks. But I absolutely do not use antibiotics in farming, nor do I use harmful chemicals, so that the product is of better quality and safer for consumers' health.”
Supporting businesses in complying with safe processing practices.
For agricultural processing facilities, the Provincial Department of Quality Control, Processing and Post-Processing requires strict adherence to hygiene standards from the factory premises, machinery, equipment, and tools used for preliminary processing and product processing. In addition, those involved in processing must have regular health check-ups; use safe raw materials and avoid prohibited additives; and store products at appropriate temperatures to prevent re-contamination.
The Da Giau Dried Shrimp Production Facility, located in Hamlet 2, Lang Tron Ward, was inspected and guided by the Provincial Department of Quality Control, Inspection and Supervision on product packaging, label design, etc., to facilitate traceability and protect consumer rights when the product is sold on the market.
The Da Giau Dried Shrimp Production Facility received guidance on product packaging and label design.
Mr. Pham Van Giau, owner of Da Giau Dried Shrimp Production Facility, said: “Fresh shrimp are bought, washed thoroughly, then boiled for a certain time, then put into a drying machine, dried, and then processed by a shelling machine. The processing is almost entirely machine-based; only the sorting and grading of shrimp requires manual labor. The workers here are provided with protective equipment and undergo regular health checkups. Recently, the Sub-Department came to the facility to take water and product samples for testing. Our facility currently has two products that have achieved OCOP 3-star quality.”
The Provincial Department of Quality Control, Processing and Trade Promotion currently manages 768 establishments producing and trading agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products. The Department has been implementing a project to promote the export of these products, supporting the design of product labels and packaging for these establishments, aiming to enhance competitiveness and expand markets.
Officials from the Provincial Department of Quality Control, Inspection and Control of Information Technology guided Truc Anh Pharma Co., Ltd. in Vinh Trach ward on product packaging design.
Mr. Truong Van Qui added: "This time, in addition to propaganda, the Sub-Department also supports production facilities in designing product packaging that meets standards, with QR codes for product traceability; and takes water and product samples from processing facilities for testing, in order to ensure that products meet safety standards."
Strengthening inspections, dissemination of information, guidance, and support for farmers and production facilities has helped raise awareness and compliance with production and processing procedures, contributing to building brands and labels for clean and safe agricultural products. This not only ensures products meet safety standards for domestic consumers but also aims to meet the stringent requirements and standards of demanding export markets, thereby enhancing the value and position of Vietnamese agricultural products .
