OnlineFriday 2023 will have consumer protection measures

The National E-commerce Week and Vietnam Online Shopping Day - Online Friday 2023 program is the largest national e-commerce event of the year organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in coordination with government agencies, People's Committees of provinces/cities, associations, brands, businesses, large e-commerce platforms and sales support platforms such as TikTok Shop, Shopee, Lazada, Tiki, VNPAY, ZaloPay, Viettel Post, VnPost, ACCESSTRADE Vietnam...

This year, the program has a practical and timely action plan towards protecting consumer rights in the online environment.

Specifically, management agencies and e-commerce platforms, payment intermediaries, banks, etc. will commit to join hands to build a sustainable e-commerce market during the “National E-commerce Week and Online Friday Online Shopping Day”.

Market management and consumer protection agencies will also coordinate to monitor consumer feedback on this occasion.

The organizers also said that right at the livestream sessions, the organizers will review and detect goods with signs of violations, and suspend the livestream session immediately upon detecting violations.

The main activities within the framework of the program are: Vietnam E-commerce Development Conference; 60 hours of shopping on online platforms in Vietnam; E-commerce and music experience festival at Hoan Kiem Lake walking street, Hanoi; Propaganda, dissemination and experience activities for consumers, businesses and management agencies through the Digital Ecosystem to enhance consumer protection in e-commerce...

With the goal of reaching about 1 billion views on the program's platforms, 3 million orders closed, 10 million people accessing the program, 500 brands and 3,000 businesses participating in 60 hours of Vietnam Online Shopping Day - Online Friday 2023, the organizers expect this year's program to be a bright spot in the general picture of the e-commerce sector, as well as the digital economy in Vietnam.

Ms. Le Hoang Oanh - Director of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said: "E-commerce Week will bring practical benefits to consumers when participating in shopping, while building a close and sustainable connection between the business community from manufacturers, distributors to units providing infrastructure services for e-commerce".

Mr. Nguyen Lam Thanh, representative of TikTok Vietnam, shared: “TikTok Shop will be the main platform to deploy mega livestreams "60 hours of online shopping day" to encourage sellers and content creators to share useful shopping experiences, introduce quality products, attractive promotions... to millions of consumers across the country”.

At the event, Shopee also set up a booth "10 years of Vietnamese goods" with many discounts up to 50% and a series of free shipping promotions, to accompany the OnlineFriday 2023 program.
