Nghe An collects more than 356 billion VND from the agreement to pay for greenhouse gas emission reduction in the North Central region.

Along with the budget capital, in Nghe An, revenue from forest environmental services (FES), replacement forestation and revenue from the North Central Region Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Payment Agreement (ERPA) have contributed significantly to forest management, protection and development, creating many jobs, improving livelihoods, increasing income and life for Nghe An people.

That was the main content at the conference to review the first 6 months of 2025, evaluate the results of payment for forest environmental services and deploy tasks for the last 6 months of 2025, organized by the Nghe An Provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund on July 4.

With the timely attention, direction, assistance and support of the Vietnam Forest Protection and Development Fund, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, the Fund Management Board, the Fund Control Board, relevant departments and branches; the active participation of local Party committees and authorities and the close coordination of agencies, forest owners, and the consensus of the people, in the first 6 months of 2025, the Forest Protection and Development Fund has promptly carried out the payment for forest environmental services, replacement forest planting and the North Central Region Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Payment Agreement (ERPA) project.

In the first 6 months of 2025, the Forest Protection and Development Fund signed 48 contracts, of which 23 were entrusted contracts with hydropower production facilities, 14 were clean water production facilities and 11 were industrial production facilities; total revenue was over 59 billion VND.

Implementing the replacement forestation program, the Forest Protection and Development Fund has collected and allocated to implement projects (replacement forestation) more than 101.2 billion VND corresponding to an area of ​​5,389.19 hectares (of which the total amount disbursed cumulatively as of June 30, 2025 is: 66.3 billion VND).

Thanks to that, in Nghe An, the area of ​​replacement forestation in the province is 4,811.12 ha/5,389.19 ha of the area to be planted, specifically: planting 1,195.13 ha of protective forest, 165.78 ha of special-use forest, 1,837.13 ha of production and model forest, 1,613.08 ha of scattered trees (converted area).

Implementing the agreement on payment for greenhouse gas emission reduction in the North Central region (ERPA), Nghe An has achieved good results. Accumulated revenue from EPA sources to date is more than 356.4 billion VND and according to the approved disbursement plan for 2025 is more than 178.6 billion VND, of which: Forest owners are organizations: 85.2 billion VND; Commune People's Committees assigned by the State to manage forests are more than 12.2 billion VND; communities, households, individuals are more than 34.7 billion VND; payment costs for beneficiaries in 2024 transferred to 2025 are more than 29.2 billion VND.

Thanks to the good implementation of revenue from forest environmental services (FES), reforestation and revenue from the North Central Region Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Payment Agreement (ERPA), the effectiveness has been promoted, having a very positive impact on forest management, protection and development, and the livelihoods of the community and people. Forests are better protected, violations of legal regulations on forest protection, development, forest fire prevention and fighting in the province have gradually decreased over the years; gradually contributing to stabilizing and ensuring forest area, maintaining forest cover, improving forest quality and contributing to improving the quality of the ecological environment.

At the conference, delegates highly appreciated the policy of payment for forest environmental services, reforestation and revenue from the North Central Region Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Payment Agreement (ERPA); at the same time, they made proposals and recommendations for Nghe An to complete its goals and plans for 2025.
