Cellist Ha Mien just had a sublime Cello love song concert in Hanoi . The female artist took the audience on a journey of many profound emotions with her cello.
The program is one of the promotional activities for the second album When the cello sings , which has just been released on the market, so for most of the show, Ha Mien performed lyrical works on the CD, a part of the program was divided into semi-classical music so that she could clearly show the path she chose, combining the classical values of Vietnam with the world .

Having been attached to the cello since childhood and currently a lecturer at the Vietnam National Academy of Music, performing international classical music works is a common thing for Ha Mien. However, with the dream of bringing the cello to the general audience, 2 years ago she made her first album Romance in Hanoi with a contemporary classical fusion style.
And with this album When the cello sings, she bravely attacked another field, which is Vietnamese lyrical music. Many times she wondered, after all the years of studying classical music, now playing "commercial" music, which is easier to listen to, would people in the industry criticize her? And then she thought that music is a means of conveying emotions between artists and audiences, so there will be no boundary between "luxury music" or "popular music".
“I wish for nothing more than for the audience to hear the songs that have been associated with the voices of famous singers, and now enjoy those songs with the sound of the cello. The cello is not too melodious like the violin, nor too deep like the contrabass. The cello is in the middle range, the sound is very warm and charming. I hope the audience will love and have their own feelings when watching and listening to the works they used to love through the sound of the cello,” she confided.
Ha Mien is currently a lecturer at the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
The Cello Love Songs Night opened with the gentle melody of Homeland (Luu Cau) and Preludes ( Nguyen Huu Tuan) through the combination of Ha Mien and pianist Bui Dang Khanh. The medley seemed to awaken the listeners' emotions, separating them from the noise of the city streets to immerse themselves in the world of music, bringing them back to the peacefulness of youth to turn over the pages of memories of the old decade, when every weekend morning, turning on the radio to listen to this familiar melody. These are also works that live in the nostalgia of many generations in the 60s, 70s, and 80s of the last century.
The appearance of chamber singer Thang Long, son-in-law of diva Thanh Lam in the performance Tro ve Surriento was an interesting part of the program because it was rare for him to sing along with the cello. The male singer confided that the older he gets, the more he loves the cello and at home he often plays cello music to listen to. "Today, when performing with Ha Mien's cello, I feel like I am harmonizing with another warm voice, it rolls and tightens on my voice," he said.

The Duo performance of Thang Long and Ha Mien in the music night is also a sign of the future projects of the two artists. He is a beautiful tenor voice in his prime, with an ideal appearance when combined with the beautiful cellist Ha Mien, will bring special musical products, promising to be very interesting, in the image of a musical duo appearing for the first time. The recording and performance plans of the duo are being prepared and will be released to the public soon.

Moving on to the second part of the show with the theme of intersection, Ha Mien chose to perform the works Romance in Hanoi (in collaboration with violinist Trinh Minh Hien) and Beo dat may troi (Trio with pianist Bui Dang Khanh and saxophone artist Le Duy Manh). These are three close colleagues who have been close for over 10 years and have performed with Ha Mien in many large and small programs.
As for Trinh Minh Hien, she and Ha Mien were members of the Quartet for many years. When witnessing her younger brother's growth through each musical product, she was very happy because they both shared the same dream, bringing string instruments closer to the audience.
Saxophonist Le Duy Manh could not hide his happiness when he saw the audience arrive very early and sit and listen, enjoying each piece of music in the program. It was the love of the audience that made his emotions and those of the other artists more sublime on stage . "I let my soul go with the cello, feeling the performance was better than when I practiced."
Pianist Bui Dang Khanh and Saxophonist Le Duy Manh both accepted Ha Mien's invitation to perform at the concert without thinking because they cherish their close friend. He said that the three of them studied music together since they were young and performed together so much that they were very compatible. He still remembers the two years of COVID-19, the three of them recorded together on their phones and then combined the songs to create musical works as a spiritual gift of encouragement to send to friends and audiences during the period of social distancing. Those are the memories that they always cherish about each other.
The second half of the music night was a private space for Ha Mien and her cello to sing love songs from the newly released album with Hanoi, 12 seasons of flowers (Giang Son); Loving each other on a rainy day (Nguyen Trung Cang); Blue eyes (Ngo Thuy Mien); Lullaby for you (Duong Thu); When my lover cries (Tran Thien Thanh), The girl from yesterday (Tran Le Quynh)...
The audience seemed to see the image of Ha Mien as deep and thoughtful when each melody she sent contained the thoughts of a romantic and dreamy soul. "When I recorded these songs, my life had many ups and downs. I just wanted to save all those genuine emotions through the cello and hope the audience can sympathize with me," she said.
Sitting in the audience watching Ha Mien perform, musician Giang Son - author of Hanoi 12 seasons of flowers was very moved. She confided that since studying music and learning about string instruments, she has loved the cello, more than the violin . “It seems that the cello is very suitable for my music. The cello's warm sound is like a man's voice - high or low, both beautiful - makes me feel like it is a solid support for me. When I listened to Ha Mien's cello version of Hanoi, 12 seasons of flowers, I was very happy. The song has been performed by female and male singers, but when it was adapted to cello, it was wonderful, even richer and deeper.”

After 2 hours of continuous playing, Ha Mien was still passionate and did not feel tired at all. The more she performed, the more excited she became, her playing became more skillful and refined.
At the end of the show, she gave the audience a performance with singer Nguyen Tuan Anh in the song "Love song for you ", " Return to motherland" (Nguyen Van Thuong) with Saxophonist Le Duy Manh and cheerful Christmas melodies with violinist Trinh Minh Hien.
