According to the results of the city-wide 12th grade student quality survey announced by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the rate of students at risk of failing graduation is quite high, with 4,228 exams with a score of 0-1 (0.91%), in addition to nearly 32,000 exams with a score below 3.0 (nearly 7%);... The schools with the lowest survey scores are vocationaleducation centers - continuing education, intermediate schools, and vocational colleges. These schools have an average score of most subjects below 5 points.
A representative of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training acknowledged that the survey test closely followed the structure of the Ministry of Education and Training's test, and that having thousands of test papers with scores below 1 point is alarming.
Regarding the results of the 12th grade survey, Mr. Ha Xuan Nham, Head of the Secondary Education Department (Hanoi Department of Education and Training) said: “The above results show that a large number of students need more support from now until the graduation exam. Schools need to focus on reviewing and classifying students' levels to have effective plans for organizing review and training.
In particular, it is important to review subjects according to topics that have been professionally trained by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training. In addition, schools also need to build a system of review questions that closely follow the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program, focusing on training students with questions that have practical significance.
Take advantage of the "golden period"
On the morning of April 15, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training held a conference with school principals and directors of vocational education and continuing education centers to share experiences in reviewing for the final stage, aiming to prevent students from failing to graduate.
Mr. Ha Xuan Nham said: "The Department continues to instruct schools to closely follow the instructions on the graduation exam, along with propaganda and instructions for students to participate in studying on television, which the Hanoi Department of Education and Training coordinates with Hanoi Television to broadcast from April 4 until students take the graduation exam."

Learning from the experience of having 10 students fail the graduation exam last year, a representative of Phung Hung High School (Ha Dong District) said that from the results of the recent city-wide survey, the school has reviewed and adjusted the review plan to ensure it is close to each group of subjects, paying special attention to weak students and students who are not self-motivated in their studies; at the same time, it has built a roadmap and review goals for each stage from now until before the exam.
Speaking with VietNamNet reporter , Mr. Hoang Duc Thuan - Cao Ba Quat High School (Gia Lam district, Hanoi) said that in the recent Hanoi high school graduation mock exam, the school did not have any students at risk of failing the graduation exam.
“However, the school will not neglect the review of final year students. From now until the high school graduation exam takes place, the school will strengthen solutions such as tutoring for weaker students in the hope that they will improve their academic performance and achieve the best results,” said Mr. Thuan.
Regarding vocational education - continuing education, Mr. Vuong Van Chinh - Director of the Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center of My Duc district said: To improve the quality of students' learning in the coming time, the unit will conduct differentiated teaching according to students' abilities. The school can divide the subjects into groups according to their abilities to apply different review methods, suitable for their learning ability, avoiding unnecessary pressure.
For students with poor academic performance, teachers can organize tutoring and increase coordination with families, aiming for all students to have the best results, ensuring graduation quality like previous years, reaching 98.36% and 100%".
Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, asked schools to uphold their sense of responsibility. Based on the survey results, schools will continue to analyze and clearly identify the reasons why this subject has low scores, that test content has many students who have not met the requirements... Each school needs to carefully review, classify students into groups and increase support and advice for students in choosing appropriate graduation exam subjects to register for.
Mr. Cuong also suggested that each school and each teacher should make the most of the "golden period" from now until before the exam to support students, helping them respond well to the exam with many innovations.
2025 is the first year that students will take the high school graduation exam under the new general education program. The exam will take place on June 26-27, 2025.
