Brandon Ly is 19 years old this year, he is playing for the U21 team of Burnley FC. This is a club competing in the EFL Championship (the second highest division in the professional football system of the foggy country, just behind the Premier League) of English football.
Brandon Ly has a Vietnamese father and was born in Ireland. He plays as a defender and has never played for any national team. That means this player of Vietnamese origin could play for the Vietnamese national team if he is naturalized.

Brandon himself also expressed his desire to serve Vietnamese football. He said: "I still regularly follow the V-League. I hope one day I can return to play in my fatherland."
"In addition, I also hope to one day wear the Vietnamese national team jersey. I have half Vietnamese blood. I want to contribute to the success of Vietnamese football in the international arena," Brandon Ly added.
Recently, Vietnamese football has created a great buzz in the international arena, the number of overseas Vietnamese players wanting to return to play for the Vietnamese national team is increasing.
In particular, after the success of Vietnamese goalkeepers Dang Van Lam (Russian Vietnamese) and Nguyen Filip (Czech Vietnamese) in Vietnam, the confidence of Vietnamese players in their homeland's football has grown even greater.
Brandon Ly shared: "I watched the entire AFF Cup 2024. In the future, I really want to be a part of the Vietnamese team at this tournament. I hope I can wear the Vietnamese national team jersey."
"I can even play for the Vietnamese national team in a prestigious tournament like the World Cup. That will definitely make my father proud," said the Vietnamese-Irish player.
