Protests erupted in Kenya after parliament passed the 2024 finance bill, which aims to raise an additional $2.7 billion in taxes, according to Reuters. The nationwide protests peaked on June 25 when violence broke out, forcing police to use tear gas and live ammunition to suppress the situation. The army was also deployed to help restore order as protesters outnumbered police and chased them in some places. Photo: Reuters.
