Protests erupted in Kenya after parliament passed the 2024 finance bill, which aims to raise $2.7 billion in additional taxes, Reuters reported. The nationwide protests reached a fever pitch on June 25 when violence erupted, with police using tear gas and live ammunition to quell the violence. The army was also deployed to help restore order as protesters outnumbered police and chased them in some areas. Photo: Reuters.
