People donate to Ia Dom commune a set of 200-year-old gongs

(GLO)- On the morning of November 13, Mr. Vu Van Hieu (Ia Mut village, Ia Dom commune, Gia Lai province) donated a set of 200-year-old ancient gongs to the Ia Dom commune government.

Accordingly, the set of 19 gongs was bought by Mr. Hieu from a friend who specializes in collecting items related to the culture of the local Jrai people.

To promote the value of the gong set and to better preserve it, Mr. Hieu decided to donate this gong set to the Ia Dom commune government.

Mr. Tran Ngoc Phan - Secretary of the Ia Dom Commune Party Committee said that he highly appreciated Mr. Hieu's heart towards the community. According to Mr. Phan, the gong set will be owned by the community, a valuable cultural asset that everyone has the right to access and use. Thereby creating a common cultural space and strengthening the connection between members of the community.

It is known that this set of ancient gongs has a market value of hundreds of millions of dong. Some individuals, upon learning that Mr. Hieu owned this precious set of gongs, offered to buy it, but he refused and kept it for preservation purposes.
