Taking medical history, it was noted that the patient had a traffic accident in the middle of the night and was stabbed under the skin by a tree branch.
On September 25, specialist doctor Pham Ngoc Thai Son (Interdisciplinary Department, Xuyen A Long An General Hospital) said that the worrying thing was that in the wound there was a tree branch piercing under the skin , pointing inward and diagonally above the left eyebrow. This condition has the potential to damage the superficial temporal artery, causing dangerous bleeding.
The doctors quickly held an interdisciplinary consultation and agreed on a surgical plan that same night. After anesthesia, the surgical team began to explore the wound and carefully removed the foreign object, a tree branch about 6 cm long. In addition, many pieces of wood splinters and leaves hidden deep inside the soft tissue were also discovered and completely removed.
Fortunately, the foreign object only stopped at the soft tissue under the skin, without causing damage to the skull or important nerve structures. After removing the foreign object, the surgical team continued to clean and bandage the wound.
Thanks to timely intervention, the patient's health quickly stabilized. After 3 days of care and monitoring at the hospital, the patient's wound healed well, no longer swollen or painful, and he was discharged home.

Do not remove foreign objects from the body on your own.
Doctor Thai Son said that every year the hospital receives many cases related to foreign objects under the skin such as pieces of wood, glass, sharp thorns, metal, etc. If not detected and treated properly, these foreign objects can remain in soft tissue, causing inflammation, swelling, pus, fever and leaving many dangerous complications.
It is important that people absolutely do not arbitrarily remove foreign objects from the body. In many situations, foreign objects unintentionally act as a temporary "hemostatic plug". If hastily removed, bleeding can occur, threatening life. In addition, improper removal can easily further damage blood vessels and nerves and make surgery more complicated. Therefore, when encountering an accident with a penetrating foreign object, the patient should immediately go to a reputable medical facility for proper and safe examination and intervention.
