Residents are preparing to relocate from the prime real estate area to make way for a park east of Hoan Kiem Lake.
These days, some households on Dinh Tien Hoang and Ly Thai To streets are busy packing their belongings and moving to new homes, making way for the East Hoan Kiem Lake Park (Hanoi).

The project to build a square and park east of Hoan Kiem Lake is invested in by the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem Ward ( Hanoi City), covering an area of approximately 2.14 hectares.
For nearly half a month now, Hoan Kiem ward (Hanoi City) has been focusing on paying compensation and providing resettlement support to households subject to relocation and land clearance for the construction of a park.
Due to the deterioration of houses and infrastructure (electricity, water) in the area east of Hoan Kiem Lake, some households have proactively relocated to new residences.
Compensation for land clearance and resettlement support in the East Hoan Kiem Lake Park is paid in installments by the local authorities, depending on the progress of completing the land and property documentation.
A family in alley 61, Dinh Tien Hoang Street, hired people to pack their belongings for their new home.
A portion of the house on Dinh Tien Hoang Street has been handed over to the authorities to be fenced off with corrugated iron sheets, in preparation for demolition.
The government office building on Ly Thai To Street has been demolished to make way for the park on the east side of Hoan Kiem Lake.
The Pho Thin restaurant in alley 61 Dinh Tien Hoang is subject to land clearance to make way for the East Hoan Kiem Lake Park.
Within the grounds of the East Hoan Kiem Lake Park, there is also a hotel and restaurant that are a favorite destination for both domestic and international tourists.
After receiving compensation, residents were resettled with land or apartments in Dong Anh commune and Viet Hung ward.
Having lived in the heart of the capital for generations, residents affected by the East Hoan Kiem Lake Park project are understandably saddened to have to relocate. However, residents of Dinh Tien Hoang and Ly Thai To streets agree with the plan to create a park and square there, contributing to urban beautification and the creation of public spaces.
The area undergoing renovation east of Hoan Kiem Lake currently has 47 land users, including 12 organizations and agencies and 35 households.
According to the master plan, the overall layout of the area east of Hoan Kiem Lake Park will focus on upgrading public spaces, improving transportation connectivity, and preserving important cultural buildings.
