On June 4, according to information from Soc Trang General Hospital, the hospital is continuing to monitor and treat a female patient diagnosed with streptococcus suis infection.

Previously, on May 16, Ms. HTY (70 years old, living in Soc Trang city) had symptoms of high fever, vomiting, and diarrhea.
After 2 days of treatment at a private medical facility, Ms. Y. was transferred to the hospital by her family in a state of fever, lethargy, and subcutaneous hemorrhage.
Test results from the hospital showed that Ms. Y. was positive for Streptococcus suis (S.suis), the causative agent of swine streptococcus disease.
According to the patient's family, Ms. Y. is a housewife. A few days before falling ill, Ms. Y. bought pork at the market in An Nghiep Industrial Park to cook for her family.
Ms. Y's family members are currently in normal health.
According to the leader of Soc Trang General Hospital, after many days of treatment, Ms. Y.'s health has stabilized and she is being monitored further. If her health improves, the hospital will discharge Ms. Y. in the next few days.
