On the morning of June 16, Ms. Thanh Hoa, 31 years old, went to the top floor of a 4-story apartment on Ngo Quyen Street, Ward 6, to look for a stray cat and slipped and fell into the gap between the wall and the house next door.
The victim was injured, but still conscious, trying to call for help. Relatives approached but the space was too narrow and they were helpless. Nearly ten rescue soldiers from District 10 Police arrived at the scene.

The police calmed her down, pumped oxygen, and dropped a helmet to protect her head. Rescuers used a machine to cut the iron bars from the second-floor window, about 15 meters above the ground. A group on the rooftop dropped a rope to pull Ms. Hoa up. The rescue took about 30 minutes. The victim only suffered scratches on her legs.
