Hanoi's public school tuition revenue is more than 1,700 billion VND.

According to the content of the submission on the issuance of a Resolution regulating tuition fees and tuition subsidy levels for preschool and primary school students in the area, the Hanoi City People's Committee provides detailed information on current tuition fees.

Specifically, the tuition fee for the 2024-2025 school year is divided into two applicable areas. Wards collect 155,000 VND/month for 5-year-old preschool children, primary and secondary school students; 217,000 VND/month for preschool children under 5 years old and high school students.

The communes apply the corresponding collection levels of 75,000 VND/month and 95,000 VND/month, respectively.

Preschool children and students in mountainous communes only pay 19,000-24,000 VND/month.

At the same time, online tuition is 75% of in-person tuition.

With the above collection level, in the 2024-2025 school year, Hanoi will collect more than 1,200 billion VND in tuition fees from public kindergartens and general schools, excluding high-quality schools. Of which, kindergartens collect approximately 317 billion VND, middle schools collect 576 billion VND, and high schools collect 322 billion VND.

5-year-old preschool children and primary school students have no source of income because they are exempted from tuition fees according to previous regulations.

With the group of high-quality public schools, Hanoi collected about 506 billion VND in budget. Of this, about 89 billion VND was for preschool tuition, 104 billion VND for primary school tuition, 216 billion VND for secondary school tuition and 97 billion VND for high school tuition.

When implementing the policy of free tuition for all preschool children and public primary school students, and tuition support for preschool children and students of private, high-quality schools, Hanoi plans to spend more than VND2,700 billion from the budget in the 2025-2026 school year.

This expenditure includes nearly VND2,200 billion in tuition exemption and tuition subsidy for public groups and about VND526 billion in tuition support for private groups.

According to statistics, in the 2025-2026 school year, Hanoi city will have 2,954 educational institutions from preschool to high school with approximately 2.3 million preschool children and students, an increase of about 30,000 compared to the 2024-2025 school year.

The public school group accounts for the vast majority with nearly 2 million students, equivalent to 87%. The private school group is 318,000 students. The vocational education and continuing education center group is 57,000 students.

It is expected that the Hanoi People's Council will consider and decide on tuition fees and tuition subsidies for the 2025-2026 school year tomorrow afternoon, November 13.
