In document 555 recently sent to Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) - the investor of Tan Son Nhat Airport's T3 terminal, the State Inspection Council for Construction Acceptance under the State Appraisal Department of Construction Quality (Ministry of Construction) requested the investor to review issues arising during the process of putting the project into operation and use, and have timely solutions to handle and overcome them, ensuring that they do not affect the project's ability to operate and exploit.
This agency requires ACV to completely handle the situation of rainwater leaking from the glass roof onto the floor of the waiting room area; and to have a plan to ensure safe operation during the rainy and stormy season.
Urgently complete the remaining work as committed by the investor, promptly report the implementation results and the resolution of any problems arising during the operation and exploitation process to the Ministry of Construction .
Previously, the T3 terminal of Tan Son Nhat airport leaked during a heavy rain on the afternoon of May 7, with rainwater leaking from the glass roof onto the floor of the departure lounge.
The unexpected incident happened at a time when many passengers were waiting to check in. As soon as the incident happened, airport cleaning staff were immediately mobilized to use buckets and brooms to clean up and sweep away the water.
Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat airport has an investment capital of up to 11,000 billion VND. Just put into use, the roof is leaking, causing frustration for many passengers.
This incident not only affects the passenger experience but also damages the image of an important infrastructure project that has just been put into operation.
According to the Tan Son Nhat Airport T3 Terminal Project Management Board, the cause of the leak was due to a leak in the roof glass adhesive. On the day of the incident, Ho Chi Minh City was experiencing intense heat, with temperatures in the terminal roof area reaching 70°C, affecting the adhesiveness of the adhesive, making it easy for rainwater to leak through the gaps.
According to the project management representative, the work to fix the leaking roof of Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal will be completed within 1-2 days.
