Designer Julien Fournié has special requirements when selecting Vietnamese models

“I came here not only to select models with beautiful bodies but also to convey stories and transform into characters. Please express your personal style in the most impressive way, I believe that Vietnam will have talented models, suitable for the spirit of Haute Couture.”

One of the contemporary icons of French Haute Couture, designer Julien Fournié, shared his criteria for selecting models for his collection as soon as he arrived in Ho Chi Minh City this afternoon, June 2.

Previously, the organizers of Vietnam International Fashion Week Spring Summer 2025 informed that his Haute Couture collection “First Circus” will open the show on the evening of June 5.

“There are many talented designers around the world, but there are less than 20 Haute Couture designers officially recognized by the Paris Haute Couture Association,” said Ms. Trang Le, President of Vietnam International Fashion Week . “Among them are famous names such as Chanel, Dior, and Julien Fournié – one of the representative names of contemporary Haute Couture. I hope that through collaborations like this, young Vietnamese models will accumulate more valuable experiences, gradually improving their skills to approach international standards.”

With a calm demeanor and meticulous work style down to every detail, designer Julien Fournié set out clear criteria for the selection: 18 female models with outstanding height, impressive runway charisma, and 11 male models with ideal body shape, toned muscles, demonstrating sportsmanship and discipline in physical training.

Julien Fournié and his colleagues carefully considered every detail, from body measurements to shoe size, because each design in the collection is unique, requiring the model to fit perfectly to fully honor the value of the outfit.

In particular, when choosing models, he not only relies on their physical appearance, but also evaluates the overall charisma, performance style and ability to convey the unique spirit of each design in the collection that will be presented in the upcoming week .

Besides the new models, the organizers met many familiar faces from Vietnam's Next Top Model such as Cao Ngan, Tra My, Kim Nhung, Chloe Phuong Nguyen... and many foreign models.

Closing the audition with the participation of more than 200 domestic and international models, high-end fashion designer Julien Fournié will quickly go to fitting and makeup sessions tomorrow, to carefully prepare for the presentation of the “First Circus” collection on the opening night of the fashion week.
