The workshop is part of the first Vietnam - China literary exchange series in 2025 organized by the Chinese Consulate General, the Chinese Writers Association, the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association, Chi Cultural Joint Stock Company and a number of coordinating units.
Writer Luu Chan Van also has a series of exchange activities with university students on this occasion.
Writer Luu Chan Van: Vietnamese people are very friendly
The highlight of the conference was the meeting and exchange with writer Liu Zhenyun. Mr. Liu Zhenyun is currently the Chairman of the Henan Provincial Writers Association, a member of the Executive Committee of the Chinese Writers Association and a professor at Peking University.
He received the Mao Dun Prize, a prestigious Chinese literary award, for his work One Sentence Against Ten Thousand Sentences .
In the past 20 years, Luu Chan Van has had 7 works translated and published in Vietnam, and soon the 8th book will be released to readers.
During the meeting, Luu Chan Van made a good impression with his simple and humorous way of speaking.
He said that when he arrived in Ho Chi Minh City, he wandered around a few streets and went into a restaurant. When he saw that he was confused about how to roll the spring rolls, the staff enthusiastically guided him.
Luu Chan Van said he feels that Vietnamese people are very nice and friendly, so he hopes to come here a few more times.
The writer's reward is the love of the readers.
Writers at the conference also highly appreciated Liu Zhenyun's writing ability. Some people said that his influence in Vietnam is second only to Mo Yan's.
Liu Zhenyun said he and Mo Yan were close brothers, and he was happy when his brother won the Nobel Prize for Literature. As for him, when he goes to another country, just having someone tell him that they have read and liked his books is a great reward.

Liu Zhenyun said that once when he went to a restaurant in Beijing, a shipper recognized him and asked him to autograph his book that he was reading. Liu Zhenyun was surprised and wondered how he had time to read his book.
The shipper said that he always wanted to surpass himself. Through books, he found empathy and positive things in himself that were changed. For writer Luu Chan Van, that is a meaningful story for him to continue writing, continuing to bring meaningful values through the pages of books.
