At the end of September 2025, Tien Yen Medical Center recorded an important step forward when, for the first time, collaborating with a leading neurosurgeon from Xanh Pon General Hospital, successfully performed endoscopic surgery for severe spinal disc herniation for patient TTM (52 years old, Hoanh Mo commune). The patient was admitted to the hospital with severe back pain, radiating down the right leg, numbness, muscle atrophy, and difficulty walking after many years of ineffective treatment elsewhere. MRI results showed that the patient had a herniated disc at the L5-S1 level, compressing the nerve roots. The patient was indicated for endoscopic surgery to remove the herniated nucleus pulposus and relieve the compression.
After more than an hour of surgery, Master, Doctor Luong Minh Quang (Xanh Pon General Hospital) and Doctor CKII Luc Chien Thang, Head of the Examination Department, Tien Yen Medical Center, coordinated with the team to complete the surgery. After only 2 days, the patient was able to move gently, no more pain, no more numbness. Doctor CKII Luc Chien Thang said: Endoscopic surgery for disc herniation is a modern, minimally invasive technique with many advantages such as less pain, small incision, aesthetic, quick recovery and safety. Thanks to investment in advanced equipment, along with a team of highly trained doctors, Tien Yen Medical Center has received and mastered this technique, helping people to be treated locally, without having to travel far. Through this case, we recommend that people with signs of back pain, leg numbness, and limited mobility should go to a specialized medical facility for proper treatment early and absolutely not use medicine or apply folk remedies on their own.

Medical facilities in remote areas of Quang Ninh are increasingly demonstrating their ability to handle many complicated cases and provide critical emergency care right at the local level. On the evening of October 11, patient LTT (43 years old, Binh Lieu commune) unfortunately fell from a height of 3m onto the hard ground and was taken to Binh Lieu Medical Center in a coma, bleeding from the ear, vomiting food, with a very serious prognosis. That same night, Binh Lieu Medical Center activated the "inter-hospital red alert", urgently connecting with Tien Yen Medical Center for professional support. Just a few minutes later, Tien Yen's emergency team was mobilized and prepared to receive the patient. Upon arrival, the diagnosis results confirmed that the patient had epidural bleeding, skull fracture, effusion, pneumothorax, fracture of 10 ribs on the right side, fracture of the shoulder blade... extremely serious injuries.
The Tien Yen Medical Center's leadership immediately held an emergency consultation and agreed to perform emergency surgery that same night. Doctors opened the skull to remove the hematoma, drain the pleura, control the bleeding, and reduce intracranial pressure. After 2 hours of urgent surgery, the patient was miraculously saved, recovered well, and was discharged from the hospital.

Not only focusing on improving the quality of healthcare at the grassroots level, the provincial health sector continues to spread high-quality healthcare services to remote, isolated, and border areas through programs for care, prevention, and disease screening for the community. On October 24-25, 2025, at Dam Ha 1 Secondary School, a team of doctors from Bai Chay Hospital organized a screening examination for congenital chest deformities for children in the area. This activity is within the framework of the provincial scientific project "Research on the application of improved Nuss surgery to treat congenital pectus excavatum".
Through the program, more than 600 children were examined, consulted and assessed for their chest condition. The results recorded 24 cases that needed regular monitoring and re-examination and 4 cases that needed early surgical intervention to ensure normal development. The surgical costs in the program will be fully supported. This is not only a humanitarian activity but also clearly demonstrates the efforts of the Quang Ninh Health sector in bringing modern medical services to remote areas, taking care of children's health early and from a distance.
