According to the South China Morning Post, this place used to be a basic need building, but has now been transformed into a public cultural space, making visitors feel as if they have entered a mysterious cave.
According to the representative of the management and operation unit of the night market scenic area, this toilet is designed with two floors with the idea of being closely related to Dunhuang culture and fantasy elements.

Public toilets are likened to "magical caves" (Photo: South China Morning Post).
In particular, the second floor offers a scene like a "secret world ", accented with transparent glass walls and a magical lighting system.
The interior is decorated with murals and local spices, and includes a seating area for coffee and drinks. There are chairs, tables, tea makers, and even self-service.
"This looks more like a tourist attraction than a restroom," one visitor commented.

The restroom has many amenities that make visitors excited (Photo: South China Morning Post).
This 600m² facility is also highly regarded for its user-friendliness. In addition to standard restrooms, there are separate rooms for mothers and babies with antibacterial diaper changing tables, child safety seats, self-cleaning dome systems, and areas for the elderly and disabled.
One mother said: "I was looking for a toilet at the night market when I thought I had mistakenly walked into a cave."
Opened on August 16, this "magical toilet" has become a must-see destination in Dunhuang. On Chinese social media platforms, many people expressed their surprise: "This is the most luxurious public toilet I have ever seen."

Even the entrance to the restroom leaves many visitors overwhelmed and impressed (Photo: South China Morning Post).
A much-talked-about feature of this restroom is the display system that shows how long a guest has been in the restroom. If a guest stays in the restroom for more than 5 minutes, the display changes color to remind them. Many people commented that this feature is both convenient and interesting.
Dunhuang is famous for the Mogao Caves - a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. The appearance of this "most beautiful public toilet in China" has also contributed to refreshing the tourist experience here, turning an everyday convenience into a unique cultural highlight.
