Promoting and advertising, the capital's tourism plans to make a breakthrough in the last months of the year

Tourism leaders said November is the key time of the year, when Hanoi enters the peak tourist season. Accordingly, the Hanoi Department of Tourism will organize a series of diverse activities with unique products.

Hanoi has welcomed more than 28.2 million visitors in the past 10 months, reaching 91% of the year's target, higher than the total number of visitors for the whole year of 2024. Notably, thanks to the strategy of building diverse inner-city products, expanding experience routes to the suburbs... the capital's tourism has attracted and retained a large number of foreign tourists to stay and spend heavily.

Strategy to retain foreign customers

According to statistics just announced by the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in October, the total number of tourists to the capital reached 2.27 million, of which international visitors were estimated at 695,000 (up 17.8% over the same period in 2024). Of which, 490,000 registered for accommodation; nearly 1.6 million domestic visitors (up 18% and 5% respectively over the same period in 2024); total revenue reached nearly VND 9,930 billion, up 11.9%.

In the past 10 months, the number of visitors to Hanoi is estimated at 28.22 million (reaching 91% of the year's target and higher than the total number of visitors for the whole year of 2024). Of which, there are 6.17 million international visitors. Total tourism revenue is estimated at nearly 110,000 billion VND, up 22% and 20% respectively over the same period last year.

According to tourism experts, the A80 national event and the strategy of diversifying tourism products have helped Hanoi attract a large number of international and domestic visitors. If in the past, foreign visitors only considered Hanoi as a transit point to experience Ha Long or further away Sa Pa, Da Nang , now by expanding products to the suburbs, inner-city night tourism products such as Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Hoa Lo Prison.... have contributed to keeping visitors staying and considering the capital as the main destination.

In particular, to achieve this positive result, travel agencies are the main force connecting the market and creating new customer streams. As of mid-October, Hanoi had 2,687 travel agencies, including 2,101 international agencies, along with more than 9,500 tour guides in operation. This force has contributed to increasing the vitality of the capital's tourism ecosystem.

Along with market activities, the Hanoi Department of Tourism also stepped up the implementation of a series of plans to update accommodation facility data, launched the Campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese products" in the tourism sector, supplemented the tourism development plan for 2026 and proposed to host the National Tourism Year 2026...

In 2025, Hanoi aims to welcome 31 million visitors, including 7.5 million international visitors, accounting for more than 30% of the total target international visitors to Vietnam (25 million). Expected revenue is 130,000 billion VND.

Breakthrough activities at the end of the year

In recent times, Hanoi has been gradually shifting to in-depth development. Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, Ms. Dang Huong Giang, said that in October, the Department has continuously implemented plans to build night experience tourism products at the special national relic Soc Temple (Soc Son) and a community tourism model associated with the traditional culture of ethnic minorities in Yen Xuan commune. The two products are expected to create a new mark, contributing to extending the length of stay of tourists and increasing spending at the destination.

Not stopping there, Hanoi also expanded cooperation with provinces in the Southwest region through the 2025 Tourism Promotion, Advertising and Cooperation Program, affirming its role as a regional linkage center in national tourism development.

In particular, in order to help local people become the main subjects in the process of sustainable tourism development, the capital's tourism management agency has implemented many training activities to improve community capacity at community tourism destinations such as Muong Coc (My Duc).

Several major programs, creating spreading power and promoting the event in October, attracted a large number of tourists such as: World Culture Festival in Hanoi attracted more than 1 million visitors, including many international visitors; the programs "World Culture Day", "Vietnamese Ao Dai", "Hanoi Autumn Festival" contributed to bringing heritage and traditional culture together in a modern tourist space, affirming Hanoi's brand as an event city.

The leader of the capital's tourism industry said that November is identified as the key time of the year, when Hanoi enters the peak tourist season. Accordingly, the Department of Tourism will organize a series of activities such as the Hanoi Autumn Festival, the 2025 Ao Dai Festival, along with survey programs connecting destinations between travel agencies and localities.

The project to innovate the management model, preserve and promote the value of the special national relic site of Huong Son (Huong Pagoda) will be submitted to the Hanoi People's Committee for consideration and approval to create a turning point in the development of spiritual and ecological tourism in the capital. The night tour to Soc Temple, agricultural tourism in Bat Trang and Ung Thien, and community tourism in Yen Xuan are new products that are being completed and will be launched soon...

With the acceleration plan demonstrating the determination of the entire industry in the peak tourist season at the end of the year, the leaders of the Hanoi Department of Tourism expect the results of the last months of the year to be a stepping stone for the capital to make a strong breakthrough in 2026./.
