Female intelligence officer Tam Thao, real name Nguyen Thi My Nhung, born in 1932, former officer of Intelligence Group H63, Group J22, Research Department, General Staff (now General Department II, Ministry of National Defense )Born into a wealthy family, famous for selling silk in Saigon, My Nhung chose to follow the revolutionary path early on.At the age of 16, My Nhung became a ferryman who transported cadres across the river. The special passenger she often transported was the famous intelligence officer Pham Ngoc Thao . After a period of training, she was brought back to the inner city of Saigon by the organization, taking on the role of a secret courier.At the age of 18, she became a liaison for intelligence general Pham Xuan An with the code name Tam Thao. In 1966, she took on a new mission, becoming an interpreter, entering the ranks of the military apparatus of the Saigon government.With this "perfect" cover, Tam Thao collected a lot of important news and documents, contributing to helping the Party and Central Military Commission leaders make appropriate assessments and actions to win on the Southern battlefield.After 1975, the beautiful female spy changed careers to work at the Department of Culture and Information of Ho Chi Minh City. In 2002, she retired and lived a quiet, peaceful life with her family in Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City.Mrs. Lam Thi Phan's birth name was Lam Thi Elise (1918 - 2010), from Chau Thanh district, Can Tho province (now Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city). She was the daughter of a famous landowner and also the principal of Taberd Can Tho School (Chau Van Liem School - Can Tho city today).Mrs. Phan was given a full education by her family from a young age, and soon revealed her intelligence. In addition, Mrs. Phan was also known as the beauty of Tay Do because of her beautiful face and tall, outstanding figure.At the age of 17, Ms. Phan was married to the cousin of the Bac Lieu Prince Tran Trinh Huy. In 1944, Ms. Phan left her family to follow her father's path. Not long after, she founded the Women's Association of Gia Rai District, Bac Lieu Province, and became the President of the Women's Association for National Salvation in Gia Rai District, Bac Lieu Province. In 1950, Ms. Phan was admitted to the Party.To maximize the advantages of Mrs. Phan's appearance and education, her father suggested that she return to Can Tho City to build an intelligence force in the West. Later, the beauty of Tay Do was elected as the leader of the Western intelligence team (operating behind enemy lines), using Can Tho as the headquarters. With her outstanding appearance, she was nicknamed "Oriental Venus" by the French army.In 1954, Ms. Phan went to Hanoi to continue her studies at the University of Economics, and went to the Soviet Union to study intelligence. In 1962, she returned to the South to work in intelligence, in charge of intelligence activities in the highest-ranking team of the Saigon government.Many great achievements were made by this beauty during this process. In 1984, Mrs. Phan retired and married her third husband, Le Van Thich, when she was already old. In 2010, she passed away at the age of 92.Mrs. Phan had a younger sister, Lam Thi Phet (1923 - 2014), who also worked in intelligence under the command of the special intelligence branch of the Military Intelligence Department of Zone 9. She was responsible for contacting French officers and acting as an interpreter to exploit information. She also directly discovered and trained many good factors for the military intelligence force and intelligence bases within the enemy ranks.In 1950, she was transferred to Saigon to work as a liaison and secret mailbox for the Military Intelligence Department of Zone 9. In 1963, she returned to Saigon to work as an intelligence officer. During this period, Ms. Phet was very active and contributed a lot to the process of unifying the country.In the photo are the two sisters Phan and Phet in their old age. Mrs. Phet lived with her children and grandchildren in Lu Gia residential area, District 11 until her last days. Her grave is currently buried in her hometown Can Tho.Born into a "noble and prestigious" family, Dang Hoang Anh (born in 1932, birth name Nguyen Phuc Ngoc Diep) is a member of the royal family, related to King Bao Dai and the niece of Queen Mother Tu Du. Her career as an intelligence officer began with the loss of her family when the country was invaded. She was saved by comrade Pham Hung when she was only 11 years old.Joining the Central Office of Southern Suicide Forces and Saigon Special Forces, she had to constantly change her name to hide from the enemy. This female intelligence officer caused a stir when participating in many battles such as the US Embassy (May 29, 1965), Ngoc Lan Theater in Da Lat (September 28, 1969).After the complete liberation of the South, following the advice of intelligence officer Vu Ngoc Nha, she changed her name to Dang Hoang Anh and was issued a new identity card in 1984.Ms. Dang Hoang Anh (2nd from left) was the only delegate from Lam Dong province to attend the meeting to honor historical witnesses of the 40th anniversary of the Tet Offensive and Uprising in Spring 1968, in Hanoi, February 2008.
