The person mentioned is female intelligence officer Lam Thi Phan.

Mrs. Lam Thi Phan's birth name was Lam Thi Elise (1918-2010), from Chau Thanh district, Can Tho province (now Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city). She was the daughter of a famous landowner and principal of Taberd Can Tho school (present-day Chau Van Liem school - Can Tho city).

From a young age, Ms. Phan showed her intelligence. She had a bachelor's degree from Taberd University and modern ideas, supporting women's liberation. In addition, Ms. Phan was also known as the Beauty of Tay Do thanks to her beautiful face and tall, outstanding figure.

At the age of 17, Mrs. Lam Thi Phan was asked to marry by the family of Ba Ho Bi in Bac Lieu with gifts, and was taken to be the wife of the rich young master Phan Tan Dinh, a relative of the Bac Lieu Prince. From here, the life of the Beauty of Tay Do began a series of miserable days under the feudal regime.

Ba Ho Bi was famous as the "rice lord" of the South at that time, his huge fortune could last for generations, but his son was uneducated and liked to play around. Because of that, the two sides began to have a rift in their relationship.

In 1944, she left her family and joined the resistance war. Not long after, she founded the Women's Association of Gia Rai District, Bac Lieu Province, and became the President of the Women's National Salvation Association of Gia Rai District, Bac Lieu Province. In 1950, Ms. Phan was admitted to the Party.

Standing out with her beautiful appearance, she easily approached high-ranking enemy officials to exploit information and report back to our army. Not only was she not detected while performing intelligence missions, she was also affectionately nicknamed “The Venus of the East” by the French army.

With a French baccalaureate degree and a beautiful appearance, she was given the special task of building a Western intelligence team right in Can Tho, where the enemy was stationed. She joined the intelligence team in Can Tho city, using the alias Thanh Phong, with the task of exploiting information in the French expeditionary command in Can Tho.

She was also responsible for transporting weapons, guiding special forces on missions, and participating in rescuing soldiers captured by the enemy. Ms. Phan’s younger sister, Ms. Lam Thi Phet, was also a member of this intelligence team. The two sisters supported each other in challenging and dangerous missions.

Also during her time as an intelligence agent, Ms. Phan influenced Mr. Tran Hien (a translator for the French army). The two fell in love, got married, and worked together in the revolution.

In 1954, Mrs. Phan and her husband moved to Hanoi. She continued her studies at the University of Economics and went to the Soviet Union to study intelligence. In 1962, she returned to the South to work in intelligence, in charge of intelligence activities in the highest-ranking team of the Saigon government, bringing back many resounding victories.

With her outstanding achievements during her revolutionary activities, Ms. Lam Thi Phan was awarded noble prizes by the Party, the State, and the Army: First, Second, Third Order of Military Exploit and many other medals. She passed away on April 15, 2010, at the age of 92.

The life of Ms. Lam Thi Phan is a typical image of Vietnamese women standing up to liberate themselves, written by writer Tram Huong into a novel called "The Beauty of Tay Do", then adapted into a feature film of the same name by director Le Cung Bac.

The life of the beautiful female spy was the inspiration for writer Tram Huong to write the work "The Beauty of Tay Do", which was later made into a film of the same name. The film made the names of many actors such as Viet Trinh, Hong Anh...
