Announcing the 10th grade competition ratio in Ho Chi Minh City in 2025

(Dan Tri) - The competition rate for public 10th grade in Ho Chi Minh City in 2025 has many fluctuations. After knowing the competition rate, students have 5 days to adjust their wishes accordingly.

The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has just announced initial data on students registering their first choice for grade 10, including regular grade 10, specialized grade 10, and integrated grade 10.

From this data, along with previously announced criteria, parents and students can calculate the competition ratio of each school.

The competition ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of candidates registering for the first choice by the total enrollment quota of the school. This is one of the important indicators that helps students and parents register for suitable choices in the race for a place at a public high school.

It is expected that from 5:00 p.m. this afternoon to 5:00 p.m. on May 19, parents and students can adjust their wishes. The Department of Education and Training notes that they can only adjust wishes, not add or remove candidates from the list.

This year, Ho Chi Minh City has more than 88,000 students graduating from grade 9, while the quota for grade 10 in public schools is more than 70,000 students. With the above quota, the rate of junior high school graduates entering grade 10 in public schools is nearly 80%, an increase compared to last year.

Last year, after the Department of Education and Training added 5,535 quotas to 62 schools, the competition ratio for grade 10 often fluctuated. Nguyen Huu Huan High School took the lead despite reducing the competition ratio to 1/3.22. Next was Ho Thi Bi High School with a competition ratio of 1/3.06. These were also the only two schools that maintained a competition ratio above 3.

The remaining three names in the top 5 are Nguyen Thuong Hien High School, Le Quy Don High School and Pham Van Sang High School.

The 10th grade entrance exam in 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City will take place on June 6-7.

Candidates will take three exams: Literature, Math, English (and other foreign languages). Candidates will take the Math and Literature exams in 120 minutes and the foreign language exam in 90 minutes. Candidates applying to specialized schools will take an additional exam in specialized subjects (150 minutes).
