During the flood on August 5, 142 irrigation works with a total length of over 13,134 meters were damaged in Mu Cang Chai district, mainly in the communes of Ho Bon, Lao Chao, and Khao Mang. In addition, 65 irrigation works were damaged, with an estimated damage of about 11,940 million VND. In addition, the flood also damaged 5 clean water works, with an estimated damage of about 980 million VND. In order to quickly restore the irrigation canal system and ensure irrigation water for people to produce the 2023 crop, Nghia Van Company Limited and Mu Cang Chai Irrigation Enterprise have provided over 16,000 meters of water pipes to people.
Trong Gau Bua Village, Ho Bon Commune, Mu Cang Chai District has over 100 large and small irrigation works. Of these, 37 irrigation works are assigned to Nghia Van Company Limited and Mu Cang Chai Irrigation Enterprise for management. Due to the impact of floods and storms, most of the irrigation canal systems in the villages and hamlets have been affected, of which 37 works have been severely affected.
Immediately after the flood, construction management units coordinated with local residents and authorities to inspect and count damaged works. At the same time, units provided pipelines to households to repair canals to ensure irrigation water for 92 hectares of the 2023 crop area.
Mr. Sung A Binh - Chairman of Ho Bon Commune People's Committee said: To repair the irrigation canal system, the commune has directed the inspection of the works and there are 74 works that are seriously damaged, the commune has proposed to the management units to be provided with water pipes to the fields. Then continue to inspect and repair to ensure irrigation water for people to produce the crop.
In Khao Mang commune, after the flood, many irrigation works were also severely damaged. According to statistics, the whole commune had over 1,429 meters of irrigation canals that were broken, eroded and washed away... Taking advantage of favorable weather, the commune mobilized people to participate in repairs, and at the same time coordinated with the management unit to support plastic pipes for people to repair irrigation canals in the area as quickly as possible.
Mr. Giang A Dinh - Chairman of Khao Mang Commune People's Committee said: The irrigation system in the commune was severely damaged. The commune coordinated to review irrigation works and through the review, there were over 100 damaged works, currently over 50% have been repaired. Management units supported people with nearly 2,000 meters of various types of water pipes for people to repair irrigation canals.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam - Deputy Director of Nghia Van Company Limited said: After being affected by the flood, the Company has coordinated with the communes and villages to review the irrigation canal system. In the district, there are 3 communes with severely damaged canal systems. The Company has purchased water pipes and directed technical staff to coordinate with the canal owners to repair them to ensure irrigation water. In addition, the Company also joined hands with the district to repair the domestic water system for people to ensure domestic water.
Currently, the Company has been and is continuing to coordinate with the affected communes to support people with water pipes so that people can quickly repair the canal system to ensure that all crop areas have water, creating conditions for plants to grow and develop, contributing to ensuring food stability in the coming time.
