On May 12, in the fields with fallen spring rice in Ha Tinh city and the districts of Cam Xuyen, Can Loc, Thach Ha, Ky Anh, Huong Son, Duc Tho, Hong Linh town, Ky Anh town..., farmers drained water from the fields, ensuring the fields were dry and airy, preventing localized flooding, in order to minimize the risk of rice grains rotting and germinating right on the panicles.

Along with that, people salvage and tie up fallen rice into small clumps, helping the rice plants stand upright and recover.
Also on May 12, farmers and irrigation units in localities gathered and urgently operated pumps to promptly drain flooded rice fields and repair damage.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Hoa (residing in Ha Tinh city), this season her family produced more than 7 sao of spring rice. In the past few days, due to the impact of heavy rain and strong winds, about 4 sao of rice fell and lay in the water. If the rice continues to be soaked in water in the coming time, the rice will easily rot and germinate right on the panicle.

On the afternoon of May 12, according to information from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ha Tinh province, the prolonged heavy rain accompanied by whirlwinds that occurred in recent days caused about 1,780 hectares of rice in Ha Tinh to collapse.
In order to minimize productivity losses, local authorities and functional agencies in Ha Tinh province promptly directed and urged farmers to focus on remedial measures to minimize losses.
