Not long ago, Asian media simultaneously reported that the JFA was considering leaving the AFC because it was not satisfied with the decisions of this organization. Sources said that Japan would establish a new organization called the East Asian Football Confederation.
According to some sources, JFA believes that AFC is dependent on funding from Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Therefore, AFC often makes decisions that give advantages to this region.

Japan does not leave AFC.
But recently, JFA President Tsuneyasu Miyamoto himself denied this information. Mr. Miyamoto affirmed that Japan leaving AFC is not true.
“The JFA has never discussed leaving the AFC, nor does it have any current or future plans to do so. Japan is an integral part of the Asian football family and we are committed to contributing to the development of the sport across the region,” said President Miyamoto.
Not only that, the head of Japanese football also affirmed that in recent years Asian football has been making great strides thanks to strong investments from many countries in the fields of professional training and infrastructure development.
“I fully believe that with long-term vision and systematic investment, Asian football teams will reach world- class level in the near future,” the JFA President continued.
For many years, Japan has always been the number 1 football nation in the continent and they have also achieved remarkable achievements in the world arena. Mr. Miyamoto believes that this success comes from their focus on youth training.
“Continuous investment in youth development is always the key. We operate according to international standards and aim to compete on equal terms with the top football nations. That is the only way for Japan to maintain its position and continue to achieve success,” concluded President Miyamoto.
