On April 11, Reuters reported that Japan has awarded Mitsubishi Heavy Industries four contracts worth $2.84 billion (more than 380 billion Yen) to develop ground-, sea- and air-launched missiles as well as hypersonic warheads.
The new missile force, capable of striking ships and land targets more than 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) from Japan, is the centerpiece of Tokyo’s military buildup, set to begin in 2026.
Mr. Uong Van Ban said that Beijing pays special attention to the above information and will closely monitor the developments of the situation, and at the same time calls on the international community to be highly vigilant against Tokyo's move.
Claiming that Japan has been constantly exaggerating the issue of the “China threat,” the spokesperson urged Tokyo to seriously respect the security concerns of its Asian neighbors, adhere to a defense-oriented defense policy, adhere to the path of peaceful development, and be cautious about military and security issues.
