Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Tri, General Director of DHA Vietnam Company, the owner of the race, affirmed that inviting professional runners with high rankings in the world to compete in the race is a testament to the determination of the Organizing Committee in raising the international level of the race, while also creating a playground for athletes, especially professional Vietnamese athletes, to have the opportunity to compete to improve their personal achievements in preparation for participating in competitions at international marathon arenas.
“The achievements of 2 hours 35 minutes 49 minutes of Hoang Nguyen Thanh and 2 hours 49 minutes of Le Thi Tuyet at the recent 32nd SEA Games show that there is a big gap in achievements between us and the world. Therefore, the Hanoi International Heritage Marathon (Hanoi Marathon - Heritage Race) will make more efforts, creating a playground with the participation of international-class athletes so that domestic athletes have the opportunity to compete, improve their achievements, and contribute to bringing the Vietnamese marathon to new heights,” Mr. Nguyen Tri emphasized.
The award aims to promote Hanoi's heritage.
In 2023, the Race will continue to be recognized as eligible to participate in the Abbott world marathon majors Age group ranking system. The athlete's performance at the Hanoi International Heritage Marathon (Hanoi Marathon - Heritage Race) 2023 will be recognized as qualified and will be eligible to register to participate in any race in the system of 6 most prestigious races on the planet including the New York Marathon, Chicago Marathon, London Marathon, Boston Marathon, Tokyo Marathon, Berlin Marathon.
According to Mr. Tri: “Participating in the Abbott world marathon majors Age group ranking system along with the effort to bring world-class runners to compete in the 2023 season has helped put Vietnamese marathons on the world marathon map, contributing to making Vietnam a destination that attracts many international-class athletes. This will contribute to the effort to restore and develop Vietnam tourism in a sustainable direction.”
Up to this point, the organization, technical work on the racetrack as well as plans to ensure security, safety of the racetrack, recruitment, training of volunteers ... have all been completed. The leading sportswear manufacturer Xtep will bring to the athletes the most anticipated jersey with bright colors and motifs of ancient Hanoi architecture on a modern, strong design, reflecting the dynamic and ever-changing appearance of the Capital.
This year's prize structure is rich. First of all, in addition to the final prize, there are also prizes for the elite category and prizes by age group, to encourage all athletes to improve their achievements and all those who love running to practice enthusiastically. The total cash value is up to 703 million VND, of which the overall First Prize for the Elite Category (applicable to both men and women) is worth 60 million VND, which will be a great encouragement for the athletes participating in the Tournament.
