On the afternoon of August 23, Comrade Nguyen Thi Le, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, received a delegation from Aichi Province, Japan, led by Governor Hideaki Ohmura, during their visit and work in Ho Chi Minh City.
At the reception, Comrade Nguyen Thi Le highly appreciated the Vietnam - Japan relationship on the occasion of the first year of implementing the Vietnam - Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world.
Comrade Nguyen Thi Le affirmed that the Vietnam-Japan relationship is at its best stage of development in the past 50 years. This is clearly demonstrated through the lively and substantive exchanges between the two sides in various fields, from politics, economics, trade, investment to culture, education, health, etc.
According to comrade Nguyen Thi Le, the government and people of Ho Chi Minh City consider Japan one of the closest and most sustainable partners. Japan is currently the 5th largest trade partner, the 3rd largest export market, and the 3rd largest investor of Ho Chi Minh City. The city always values multi-faceted cooperation with Japanese partners and hopes that in the future, this relationship will become increasingly stronger.
Comrade Nguyen Thi Le suggested that Governor Hideaki Ohmura support and persuade the Japanese Government to actively consider and select Ho Chi Minh City as a special focus, Japan's main partner in the region and internationally, and Japan's human resource training center in the region. At the same time, I hope that Mr. Hideaki Ohmura will support the promotion of Resolution 98 allowing Ho Chi Minh City to pilot specific mechanisms and policies that have officially taken effect since August 2023, opening up opportunities to strengthen cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and its partners in Aichi in particular and Japan in general, in many strategic areas such as infrastructure development, innovation, biotechnology, automation, new materials, green economy, clean energy, etc. In addition, we will mobilize representatives of the Government and the business community in Aichi in particular and Japan in general to increase visits and join Ho Chi Minh City in searching for, building and developing new cooperation models and projects, contributing to improving the effectiveness of bilateral relations in the new development stage, especially PPP models in urban infrastructure development, healthcare, education and training, etc.
In addition, Comrade Nguyen Thi Le asked Governor Hideaki Ohmura to promote cultural exchange activities between people of all walks of life, especially the young generation, on both sides; and to encourage the Japanese Government and partners to choose Ho Chi Minh City as the main meeting place for events and programs of cultural, social, economic, scientific and technical, educational and training, tourism exchange... between the two countries.
Governor Hideaki Ohmura thanked the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City for receiving the delegation, and said that this was his fourth visit to Ho Chi Minh City. Governor Hideaki Ohmura highly appreciated the activities of the two countries in 2023 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.
Introducing Aichi province, Governor Hideaki Ohmura said that this is the industrial center of Japan, where many of Japan's leading industrial corporations are headquartered. In particular, Aichi is strong in manufacturing industries, considered the "center of Japan's manufacturing industry", such as Toyota, Aisin Seiki, Denso... Aichi is currently the province with the largest number of Vietnamese people living and working with nearly 60,000 people, an average increase of 5,000 people each year. In addition, the province has 59 enterprises investing in Ho Chi Minh City.
Governor Aichi highly appreciated the proposals of comrade Nguyen Thi Le and said that they will be implemented soon, and invited Ho Chi Minh City to participate in a number of cultural and sports events in Aichi province in the near future.
