Many exchange activities during Lao Cultural Week in Vietnam 2025

From October 1 to 7, the Lao Cultural Week in Vietnam will take place in Hanoi and Thanh Hoa. This is an activity within the framework of the Cultural, Arts and Tourism Cooperation Plan for the period 2021-2025 between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Laos.

Lao Cultural Week is an annual event held in each country, aiming to honor the friendship and close relationship between the two peoples. The event provides an opportunity to promote traditional arts and unique cultural heritage of Laos to the Vietnamese public, while also creating a bridge to enhance understanding and connection between the people of the two countries.

Over the past years, Vietnam-Laos cultural and tourism cooperation has achieved remarkable results. Art programs, people-to-people exchanges, and historical commemorative activities have contributed to affirming the faithful and steadfast relationship built, preserved, and nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane, and President Souphanouvong through many generations.

In the tourism sector, Vietnam currently ranks second among countries sending visitors to Laos, while Laos is among the top 15 markets for Vietnamese tourism. In the first 8 months of 2025 alone, Vietnam welcomed 134,507 Lao visitors, an increase of 33.1% over the same period in 2024; at the same time, in the first 6 months of the year, Laos welcomed nearly 589,000 Vietnamese visitors, an increase of 15% over the previous year.

Bilateral cooperation is also marked by projects of profound political and cultural significance such as the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park in Vientiane, expected to be completed by the end of 2025, or UNESCO's recognition of Hin Nam No National Park (Laos) and Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park (Vietnam) as the first transboundary World Natural Heritage Sites of the two countries. In particular, the Truong Son route in Laos has also been ranked as a Lao National Monument, vividly demonstrating the historical relationship and close fighting solidarity of the two peoples.

The opening ceremony of Lao Cultural Week in Vietnam 2025 and the performance of the Lao People's Democratic Republic art troupe took place on the evening of October 2 at the Hanoi Opera House.
