On the evening of September 26, Dr. Le Van Phuong, Deputy Director of Thu Duc Regional Medical Center (HCMC), said that he is coordinating to verify the case of dozens of students suffering from digestive disorders, suspected to be caused by food poisoning.

Accordingly, a school in Long Binh ward (HCMC) recorded 65 students absent from school from September 22 to 26. Many cases showed signs of digestive disorders, diarrhea, vomiting, of which 8 cases had to be hospitalized. Before showing unusual symptoms, many students had eaten bread sold outside the school gate.

On September 26, upon receiving the information, the Long Binh Ward People's Committee coordinated with the Thu Duc Regional Medical Center to go to the facility to record and verify the incident. The delegation also inspected the school kitchen and recorded that all records and books were in compliance.

Notably, when checking outside the school gate, the working group could not approach any bread carts. "People pushed the bread carts home or went somewhere, we could not approach them. Thu Duc Regional Medical Center continues to monitor and update the situation to ensure the health of the children," Dr. Le Van Phuong shared.

The incident has been reported to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety said it is coordinating and investigating the incident. As of now, the health of the students has stabilized.
