On May 9, information from Quang Ninh General Hospital said that the unit had just received two patients who were students for treatment due to smoking electronic cigarettes.

Specifically, in early May, the Emergency Department received two cases, students VBN and NTQ (17 years old), both from Ha Long City, Quang Ninh, hospitalized with symptoms of rapid breathing, dizziness, and nausea.

Through information exploitation, it was known that the patients had a history of good health and used e-cigarettes infrequently. Notably, about 1 hour before being admitted to the hospital, the 2 patients mentioned above smoked e-cigarettes, then felt nauseous, weak in the limbs, dizzy and nauseous.

4 students in Ha Long City were hospitalized due to smoking electronic cigarettes on April 12.

After examination, the doctor diagnosed the two patients with e-cigarette poisoning. The on-duty team quickly provided initial first aid and transferred them to the Intensive Care Unit for monitoring and treatment. To date, the two patients have stabilized and have been discharged from the hospital.

Doctor Nguyen Tien Thang, Deputy Head of the Emergency Department, Quang Ninh General Hospital, said: "E-cigarette poisoning often occurs in middle school and high school students, and adolescents, because this is the age when the brain is still developing and is easily affected by stimulants. Moreover, children at this age also have the need to express themselves and try new feelings. Common symptoms of e-cigarette poisoning are feeling dizzy, short of breath, weak limbs, sweating, nausea, and more seriously, heart rhythm disturbances, coma, and loss of consciousness."

According to Dr. Thang, recently, hospitals in the area have treated many cases of students poisoned by e-cigarettes.

Recently, Quang Ninh General Hospital admitted two 11th grade students with the above symptoms after smoking e-cigarettes. Although the poisoning was not too severe and doctors treated them promptly, if they continue to use it, it will certainly cause unpredictable consequences for their health and mental health in the future.

Previously, on April 12, Bai Chay Hospital (Quang Ninh) also admitted 4 students, including: V.D.M, CPTM, NHN and NCN (all 15 years old), who were hospitalized in a state of fatigue, discomfort, and weak limbs. These 4 students, 1 hour before being hospitalized, also used electronic cigarettes. After using, they felt dizzy, had discomfort all over their body, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, and vomited a lot...
