Nearly 300 cosmetic recalls received in just one day

According to the announced decisions, all 7 related businesses have submitted documents requesting to voluntarily withdraw their registration numbers. These are registration numbers that were previously issued by the Drug Administration, allowing businesses to circulate cosmetics on the Vietnamese market.

Specifically, 7 enterprises have voluntarily withdrawn their reception numbers, including:

HSD Investment and Development Company Limited ( Hung Yen ) would like to withdraw 65 numbers of receipt of announcement forms.

Human Offshore Partners Software Services Company Limited (Ha Dong, Hanoi ): 14 numbers.

HS Alliance Company Limited (Ha Dong, Hanoi): 15 issues.

Japan Connection Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company (Ha Dong, Hanoi): 78 numbers.

BB Vietnam Trading and Service Company Limited (Thanh Xuan, Hanoi): 60 numbers.

3M-INTEL Investment and Development Company Limited (Gia Lam, Hanoi): 10 numbers.

HEBE VN Company Limited (District 1, HCMC): 52 numbers.

The recalled products are mainly personal care cosmetics such as sunscreen, shower gel, facial cleanser... Some of them are familiar to consumers, imported from Japan and Korea.

According to Mr. Ta Manh Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Drug Administration, the fact that businesses voluntarily withdraw their acceptance numbers is completely normal and in accordance with regulations.

In 2024, about 500 imported cosmetic registration numbers were revoked at the voluntary request of businesses, in addition to more than 100 numbers revoked due to violations of regulations.

However, Mr. Hung also said that recently the number of businesses requesting to withdraw numbers has increased dramatically, and some localities have also recorded similar situations.

Mr. Hung affirmed that even if the business voluntarily withdraws the number, if the authorities discover that the cosmetics have signs of violation, they can still handle it, not that withdrawing the number means there is no longer a basis for handling.

According to regulations, the receipt number of the declaration form is the legal basis for cosmetic products to be circulated on the market. This receipt number does not have the value of confirming that the product is safe, effective or meets ASEAN standards, and is only valid within 5 years from the date of issue.

A product that has its registration number revoked means that the company has stopped selling the product on the market. The products may still be distributed by other companies.
