On the morning of May 30, a festive atmosphere filled Children's Hospital 2 (HCMC) when hundreds of sick children, whether still wearing IVs or in wheelchairs, happily participated in the program to celebrate International Children's Day June 1. The event brought joyful moments, helping the children temporarily forget the pain of illness.

"I want to color the fireman!" Quang Khai, 6 years old, could not hide his joy as he sat in his wheelchair, pointing happily to a nearby coloring booth. After a week in the hospital, tied to a hospital bed, this was probably the happiest day for the boy. The wound on his left thigh seemed to have temporarily receded, giving way to coloring activities, making cotton candy and taking pictures with his parents.

Not only Quang Khai, many other young patients also put aside their pain, enthusiastically coloring and participating in games at the program.

One of the booths that attracted the most patients and their relatives was the instant photo area. With each photo printed and placed in a lovely frame, the children not only had a souvenir, but also a beautiful memory in their difficult treatment journey.

The cotton candy cart is like a sweet gift that the hospital has specially prepared for the children on June 1st this year. The cotton candy is like a rare sweet pill, helping to lift the children's spirits during the stressful days of treatment.

This year, the hospital organized 12 diverse game booths, from lion dance, magic show to statue painting, cloth bag painting, painting, aiming to provide comprehensive mental health care for children being treated at the hospital.

Taking advantage of her child's health, Ms. Thu Trang (37 years old, Tay Ninh province) carried her daughter, Truc Nhu, to celebrate June 1st right in the hospital grounds. Only 2 years old, this is the second year Truc Nhu has celebrated Children's Day at the hospital.
"Watching my child grow up in the hospital for almost 2 years, lacking many things in his childhood, I was very sad. No matter what program the hospital organized, I took my child to participate. Seeing my child happy, the sadness in my heart also lessened a bit," Ms. Trang was moved.

Dr. Le Thi Minh Hong, Deputy Director of Children's Hospital 2, emphasized the special significance of the program in creating a joyful atmosphere and encouraging the spirit of both parents and children being treated here.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, Deputy Head of Social Work Department, Children's Hospital 2, to celebrate International Children's Day June 1, the hospital, together with sponsors and benefactors, organized a series of fun activities for children such as lion dance, magic show, statue painting, cloth bag painting, painting...

From May 26 to June 1, the hospital's Social Work Department connected and received nearly 600 million VND in treatment funding to support disadvantaged children. More than 3,000 gifts and 32,000 meals/porridge were also given to children who went for medical examination and treatment during this time.

This event is not only an annual activity but also a priceless spiritual gift for sick children who have to face illness and endure a lot of pain during their treatment journey.

Besides the entertainment purpose, the program also helps children understand that, despite facing challenges in life, they are always loved, cared for and supported by the community, giving them more motivation to overcome difficulties.
