On the afternoon of July 19, many areas in Hanoi experienced strong winds, followed by heavy rain. According to Noi Bai International Airport, this area is experiencing thunderstorms with lightning, strong gusts of wind, and visibility reduced to 1.5-3 km.

Due to the impact of thunderstorms, many flights to and from Noi Bai airport have had to temporarily suspend operations to ensure safety. In addition, some other flights may also be affected.

Vietnam Airlines announced changes to its flight schedule due to weather conditions to ensure absolute safety for each flight. In addition, due to the impact of Typhoon Wipha in the Hong Kong area (China), on July 20, the airline will adjust flight VN592 Hanoi - Hong Kong with the old departure time of 10:30 a.m., the new departure time of 5:00 p.m. on the same day. Vietjet Air said the impact of heavy rain and thunderstorms at Noi Bai (Hanoi) and Cat Bi (Hai Phong) airports also forced flights to and from these airports to adjust their operating plans to wait for better weather.

The airline recommends that passengers carefully check their schedules and weather conditions before traveling to the airport, as many flights may have their schedules changed or be delayed.

Bamboo Airways said that the impact of storm No. 3 could affect travel routes to the airport and flight operations at some northern airports.

According to airlines, bad weather is a force majeure situation, causing many unexpected operating costs. However, passenger safety is always the top priority, regardless of the costs. Therefore, airlines hope to continue to receive sympathy and understanding from passengers.

On the afternoon of July 19, Noi Bai International Airport reported that 9 flights arriving at the airport had to be diverted to alternate airports. At the same time, 3 flights preparing to take off were also forced to temporarily stop to wait for more favorable weather conditions.

By 5:45 p.m., the weather at the airport had improved and flight operations returned to normal.

Noi Bai International Airport recommends that passengers closely monitor information from airlines about flight schedules, and proactively coordinate with airport authorities to ensure safety, security and order in the terminal area.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the convective cloud area developing strongly from the North of Hanoi is continuing to expand into the inner city, causing widespread heavy rain with the risk of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
