TPO - The stadium at EURO 2024 is leaking again due to heavy rain. In addition to the bad pitch and poor security, Germany is facing criticism for its poor organization and is being compared to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
In the EURO 2024 round of 16 match, a big storm hit Dortmund, causing the match between Germany and Denmark to be temporarily stopped in the 34th minute. After 23 minutes, the new players came out and completed the remaining minutes.
The torrential rain also broke through the leaky roof of Signal Iduna Park, creating a huge waterfall. Many fans had to take shelter, while others happily played in the water.
This is not the first time such a scene has occurred. Previously, during the match between Türkiye and Georgia, also in Dortmund, heavy rain also penetrated the roof and forced the spectators to evacuate to safer areas. And the waterfalls will surely recur as the meteorological agency predicts heavy rain, thunderstorms and even hail to continue raging in Germany.
Videos of leaky stadiums at EURO 2024 have gone viral and become a topic of discussion on social media. Recently, through X (Twitter), the Confederation of African Football (CAF) shared such a video with the tweet: "Let's organize a major tournament according to standards" with a mocking implication.

Right after the Germany-Denmark match, former Egyptian football star Mohamed Aboutrika also criticized Germany's organization. Remember during the 2022 World Cup, German media repeatedly questioned Qatar's ability to run a major tournament. On this occasion, Aboutrika responded: "The whole world has had to bow to Qatar for its smooth stadiums, modern air conditioning systems, and the highest standards in terms of facilities and safety. What about Germany?"
According to Aboutrika, the German hosts completely failed in terms of organization, from waterfalls pouring down the stands from leaking roofs, fights taking place in the streets and at least 10 fans rushing onto the field, to large patches of grass popping up after kicks or collisions, in addition to "rains" of plastic cups being thrown onto the field.
"After what happened in Germany, the world should be grateful and come to Qatar," Aboutrika said.
