An academic playground for students passionate about research.

The Euréka Award was initiated in 1998 and is now 27 years old. From a small competition for students in Ho Chi Minh City, Euréka has expanded nationwide, becoming a prestigious award for students passionate about scientific research. In 2025, the award attracted 2,178 projects from 161 universities, academies, and colleges, spanning 15 fields such as Medicine, Chemistry, Information Technology, Economics , Engineering – Technology, Social Sciences, and Culture – Arts.

Beyond its impressive numbers, Euréka is also considered a "nursery" for young scientists. Many award-winning projects from previous years have been applied in healthcare, the environment, technology, and education , creating a positive impact on the community.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Kim Que, Deputy Director of Thong Nhat Hospital and Chairman of the Scientific Council for the Medical and Pharmaceutical fields, stated that Euréka is a school of learning and creativity. “Many students who have won the Euréka Award have now become reputable lecturers and scientists, making positive contributions to the development of education and research in our country,” he said.

In the semi-finals of the Medical and Pharmaceutical field, 122 projects were presented and debated before a panel of experts. Many projects closely followed modern medical trends such as biomedical engineering, precision medicine, nanotechnology, smart drugs, personalized treatment, and the application of AI in molecular biology. The competition atmosphere was serious yet full of creative energy – where students not only defended their ideas but also learned to listen to feedback from experts. This year's Scientific Council brought together experts and lecturers from numerous institutes, universities, and hospitals nationwide, ensuring objectivity and in-depth evaluation.

"The topics demonstrate the students' keen awareness of the developing trends in modern medicine, not only aligning with domestic research directions but also keeping pace with global trends," Mr. Que commented.

When young people embark on a journey of scientific discovery

According to the organizers, holding the semi-final round in Ho Chi Minh City contributes to providing students with access to a professional research environment and the opportunity to learn from leading experts and lecturers. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, Vice Rector of Hong Bang International University, shared: “Euréka is not only an academic playground but also a launching pad for thousands of creative ideas, making practical contributions to the development of science and society. The submitted projects demonstrate the serious investment of students and the dedicated support of lecturers – proof of the growing research capacity within the Vietnamese student community.”

HIU has 30 student projects participating in the Euréka 2025 Award, of which 10 were presented in the semi-final round in the field of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Scientific research activities at HIU are regularly maintained through domestic workshops, international conferences, and academic forums, contributing to creating an environment for professional exchange and developing research skills for students and lecturers. Hosting the semi-final round of Euréka 2025 demonstrates HIU's interest and commitment to promoting student scientific research, creating conditions for learners to develop their creative abilities and apply knowledge to practice.

Following the semi-final round, the best projects will be selected for the Euréka 2025 Final Round, scheduled to take place at the end of November at the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. The organizers hope that this year's Euréka will continue to discover ideas with high potential for application, encouraging students to pursue long-term research.

For nearly three decades, Euréka has not only been a celebration of knowledge but also a testament to the creative aspirations of Vietnam's young generation. From small laboratories to hours of tireless work, students have contributed to creating a "lifeblood" for the country's young scientific community. As one contestant shared after the competition: "Euréka is not just a competition, but a place where we learn to believe in the value of research and in ourselves."
