The event was organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City National University, with the support of the Center for Youth Science and Technology Development, the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City, and the Vietnamese Wish Fund. This year, Hong Bang International University was chosen as the host of the semi-finals for the Medical and Pharmaceutical field.

Academic playground for students passionate about research
The Euréka Award was initiated in 1998 and has now turned 27. From a small playground for students in Ho Chi Minh City, Euréka has expanded nationwide, becoming a prestigious award for students who love scientific research. In 2025, the award attracted 2,178 topics from 161 universities, academies and colleges, spanning 15 fields such as Medicine, Chemistry, Information Technology, Economics , Engineering - Technology, Social Sciences and Culture - Arts.
Not only is the number impressive, Euréka is also considered an “incubator” for young scientists. Many of the award-winning projects of previous years have been applied in medicine, environment, technology and education , creating positive impacts on the community.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Do Kim Que, Deputy Director of Thong Nhat Hospital, Chairman of the Scientific Council of Medicine and Pharmacy, said that Euréka is a school of learning and creativity. “Many students who have won the Euréka Award have now become prestigious lecturers and scientists, actively contributing to the development of education and research in the country,” he said.
In the semi-final round of the Medicine and Pharmacy field, 122 topics were presented and reviewed before the professional council. Many projects closely followed modern medical trends such as biomedical engineering technology, precision medicine, nanotechnology, smart medicine, personalized treatment and AI applications in molecular biology. The competition atmosphere was serious but full of creative energy - where students not only defended their ideas but also learned how to listen to criticism from experts. This year's Scientific Council gathered experts and lecturers from many institutes, schools and hospitals across the country, ensuring objectivity and depth in the evaluation process.
“The topics demonstrate students' sensitivity to the development trends of modern medicine, not only in line with domestic research orientation but also keeping up with world trends,” Mr. Que commented.

When young people embark on a journey of scientific discovery
According to the Organizing Committee, holding the semi-final round in Ho Chi Minh City contributes to creating conditions for students to access a professional research environment and learn from leading experts and lecturers. Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, Vice Principal of Hong Bang International University, shared: “Eureka is not only an academic playground, but also a launching pad for thousands of creative ideas, making practical contributions to the development of science and society. The competition topics show the serious investment of students and the dedicated companionship of lecturers - a testament to the growing research capacity in the Vietnamese student community.”
HIU has 30 student topics participating in the Euréka 2025 Award, of which 10 topics were presented in the semi-finals of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences field. Scientific research activities at HIU are maintained regularly through domestic seminars, international conferences and academic forums, contributing to creating an environment for professional exchange and developing research skills for students and lecturers. Hosting the Euréka 2025 semi-finals is an activity demonstrating HIU's interest and commitment to promoting the student scientific research movement, creating conditions for learners to promote their creativity and apply knowledge into practice.
After the semi-finals, the best projects will be selected for the Euréka 2025 Finals, scheduled to take place at the end of November at Ho Chi Minh City National University. The organizers hope that this year's Euréka will continue to discover highly applicable ideas, encouraging students to pursue long-term research.
Over the past three decades, Euréka has not only been a place to honor knowledge but also a testament to the creative aspirations of the young generation of Vietnam. From small laboratories and tireless working hours, students have contributed to creating a “lifeblood” for the country’s young science. As one contestant shared after the competition: “Eureka is not just a competition, but a place where we learn to believe in the value of research and ourselves.”
