Hanoi University of Medicine and Pharmacy - VNU received the Third Class Labor Medal

GD&TĐ - On October 27, Hanoi University of Medicine and Pharmacy - Vietnam National University celebrated its 5th anniversary, 15 years of tradition, and received the Third Class Labor Medal.

Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, former Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha, Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan, and Director of Hanoi National University Hoang Minh Son attended the ceremony.

The University of Medicine and Pharmacy - Vietnam National University , Hanoi was established on October 27, 2020, according to Decision No. 1666/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, based on the upgrading of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy - a unit established in 2010, inheriting the medical training tradition of the Indochina University Institute since 1906.

From its initial training scale (in 2012) with only two training programs (Medicine, Pharmacy) and 100 students in the first cohort, the school now has 6 undergraduate training programs, enrolling over 1,000 students per year.

At the postgraduate level, the school has implemented 30 programs (Resident Doctor, Specialist Level I, and Master's), enrolling over 500 students per year; in the near future, it will enroll international students in a Master's program and open additional doctoral programs.

The university continuously promotes scientific research and knowledge transfer with numerous state-level and ministerial-level projects and prestigious international publications, contributing to solving pressing public health issues. The University Medical Center's hospitals in Thanh Xuan and Linh Dam are receiving significant investment and development, creating a solid foundation for practical training and community health care.

Acknowledging and highly appreciating the achievements of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Minh Son - Director of Hanoi National University, stated that these results were achieved thanks to the attention and guidance of the Party and State; the support and strategic direction of the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Health, and the valuable assistance of central ministries, departments, and agencies, as well as the Hanoi City government. However, the most important source of internal strength is the unity and joint efforts of both teachers and students over the past 15 years - the dedication, intellect, and spirit of contribution of the teachers, and the efforts, creativity, and perseverance of the students.

Associate Professor Hoang Minh Son stated: In recent times, the Politburo has issued many groundbreaking and strategic resolutions, especially Resolutions No. 57-NQ/TW, No. 71-NQ/TW, and No. 72-NQ/TW.

The Politburo's major resolutions have ushered in a new era full of opportunities for higher education in our country. With a focus on prioritizing investment in science, technology, education, and healthcare, universities, especially those in the health sciences, will have more resources and conditions to develop in a manner commensurate with their status and mission. This is an opportunity for universities to strengthen autonomy, innovate governance models, invest in modern infrastructure, improve the quality of training and scientific research, and gradually approach international standards.

For the University of Medicine and Pharmacy - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, this is a golden opportunity to affirm its pioneering role, leverage its interdisciplinary strengths, combine scientific and technological knowledge with modern medicine, establish research centers, transfer technology, and train high-quality medical personnel, linking training - research - medical examination and treatment - community service.

To effectively implement the major policies of the Party outlined in the Politburo's Resolutions, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Minh Son proposed that the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Health consider developing a specific coordination mechanism between higher education and healthcare to promote training linked to research, application, and practice; support universities in investing in modern facilities, developing a high-quality team of lecturers and scientists, and implementing research programs and technology transfer in biomedical science, digital medicine, and artificial intelligence in healthcare…

Associate Professor Hoang Minh Son also requested the two Ministries to support smart university hospital models and training-research-practical medicine centers, thereby helping the university become a hub for training high-level medical personnel, contributing to realizing the goals of the Party and the State regarding the development of science, education, and healthcare for the people in the new era.

Prof. Dr. Hoang Minh Son expressed.
