ridiculous, ridiculous

Despite the panicked honking and the sudden braking movements as if racing against death, they still calmly... posed for photos!

The accident in Ha Tinh province on March 1st, with the image of a train falling into a cliff, many rails bouncing and deforming, left viewers still terrified, when another incident related to railway traffic safety added to the long-standing worries. This time, the worries came from people.

Accordingly, on the afternoon of March 12 in Vinh Phuc province, when the train was speeding towards the station, two women rushed up to occupy the space on the tracks. Despite the panicked whistle and the urgent braking movements as if racing against death, they still calmly... posed for photos!

The way these two women posed for photos showed their recklessness and defiance of the law. This behavior was no longer limited to disregarding their own safety, but also challenged the law, mocked social sentiments, and disregarded railway security and the safety of the majority.

Authorities have stepped in. These "overbearing" individuals will face Decree 100/2019 regulating penalties in the field of road and railway traffic; and even Article 318 of the Penal Code on the act of "Disturbing public order".

In a broader sense, the ridiculous and dangerous behavior of the two women above seems to reflect a current social phenomenon. Many people who are addicted to virtual fame have created "social media storms" by pushing themselves and boasting about their non-existent abilities or the products and stories they want to promote.

Therefore, the prompt and decisive intervention of authorities in similar cases is essential.
