Standing in front of Mr. Lo Van Hoi's house, the group members as well as the officials of the District People's Committee, the Fatherland Front of Quy Chau District, and the officials of Chau Phong Commune could not help but feel apprehensive. The house was small , less than 50 square meters, the wooden frame was rickety, the walls were made of bamboo, broken and full of holes; in the main room there was only enough space for two single beds placed about a step apart. The furniture in the house was also very old.

Chieng village chief Lo Van Duc said that Lo Van Hoi's household is a particularly difficult case. At the end of 2024, when the government reviewed cases to include them in the housing support program under the State's implementation, Lo Van Hoi refused to receive the support because he was unable to respond.

“With 60 million VND, it is impossible to build a house, and Mr. Hoi does not have any more money. Because his whole family, including his wife, 1 son and old mother, all rely on the labor of Mr. Hoi, who is sick today and sick tomorrow,” said Mr. Vi Van Tuan, an official of Chau Phong Commune People's Committee.

Chau Phong Commune Party Secretary Sam Lan added that more than a month ago, Mr. Lo Van Hoi's house had seriously deteriorated, at risk of collapsing when there was heavy rain and strong winds. Mr. Hoi's whole family had to build a temporary shack next to the house to live in, and his son, a 12th grader, went to school on weekends. Mr. Hoi's wife, Sam Thi Ngan, was in poor health and unable to work, so she had to stay at her grandmother's house. Therefore, the commune and village officials were determined to call for help from the community to help Mr. Hoi build a house.

“Fortunately, with the timely support of the Faith Volunteer Group with 60 million VND, additional help from neighbors and relatives, and Mr. Lo Van Hoi's determination to borrow more capital from the bank, his new house will soon begin construction,” said Mr. Sam Lan.

When we arrived, Mr. Lo Van Hoi was following groups of construction workers to work extra to earn money to build a house. He did whatever he was hired to do. During the acacia harvest season, he peeled acacia, carried acacia trees for hire, and harvested them for hire. Now that the market is in need of construction workers and construction workers, he took advantage of the opportunity to earn extra income. Mr. Hoi's wife and mother received support from the Faith Volunteer Group on behalf of the family. The Chieng village officials and the commune People's Committee officials were very interested, supportive, and guided the family step by step so that they could build the house as soon as possible, and complete it before the rainy season.

In addition to Mr. Lo Van Hoi's household, on April 19, the Faith Volunteer Group also went to Mon Son commune, Con Cuong district, to give 30 million VND to support Ms. Luong Thi Nguyet's family. Ms. Nguyet has a young child, Luong Thien Nhan, who has congenital hemolytic anemia. Her husband has been working away from home for many years and has barely sent any money home, leaving Ms. Nguyet to raise two young children alone.

Ms. Nguyet received 60 million VND from the State to build a house, but she did not have the ability to pay. The Mon Son Commune government called for donations of materials and called for social support so that Ms. Nguyet could build a new house to replace her dilapidated thatched house. With the support of the Faith Volunteer Group and the help of relatives, Ms. Nguyet's house is now almost completed.

Ms. Luong Thi Nguyet said: The 30 million VND support from the group is truly valuable. She will save a large part of this money to treat her child's illness, a part to buy livestock breeds and a part to build a house. Without the support of the Faith Volunteer Group and the attention of the government, relatives and neighbors, she would not be able to build a new house.

After giving 30 million VND to support Ms. Luong Thi Nguyet, the group also went to Met village, Luc Da commune to give 30 million VND to the family of 3 orphaned children whose parents have been working far away for nearly half a year without sending any money home. The children live on the care of their elderly grandfather and grandmother who are no longer able to work.

Also in April 2025, the Faith Volunteer Group gave 30 million VND to a child in Hung Chinh commune (Vinh city) with a serious illness to have more money for medical treatment.
