Strong will

Pretty and studious, Le Thi Thuy Trang was the pride of her family and teachers throughout her years at school. Trang said that in high school, she was always elected as the class leader and her academic achievements were among the top.

However, the pressure of maintaining her academic performance and passing the entrance exam to a prestigious university, fulfilling her family's wishes... gradually caused this girl to fall into a state of severe depression. For a period of time, Trang almost lost consciousness, could not remember who she was, what she had done, or how life around her was going. Then one day when she woke up, Trang found herself in the hospital.

After a period of treatment, Trang gradually recovered, her mental state became more stable and she was able to return to school. However, this period caused many difficulties for Trang as she was surrounded by gossip and criticism from everyone around her.

Along with that, during the 3 months of treatment, I had a lack of knowledge and could not keep up with my friends. I became withdrawn, avoided people, declined in my studies, and even had suicidal thoughts...

Shortly after, her condition worsened and Trang returned to the hospital for treatment. For this girl, all her ambitions seemed to have stopped.

But on a sunny day, looking out the window, Trang saw barren cactus pots, no one cared for them, still lush and full of life. Trang saw similarities between herself and this plant, she felt more motivated, lived more positively and determined to rebuild her life.

“I asked my parents to let me go back to school and was accepted into the business administration program at a college in Da Nang City. In this new environment, I met sincere friends who always brought positive energy, helping me gradually forget those sad days. And I became myself again, freely expressing myself and finding a stable job after graduation,” Trang said.

Succulents are also in Trang's "soul collection".
“Many people think that arid cacti do not need watering, but in fact they need a stable amount of water, if there is not enough water it will die, but if there is too much water it will also be damaged. Just like humans, they also need appropriate attention. I hope that parents will pay proper attention to their children at certain ages and have understanding, guidance, and companionship so that their children can choose the right path” - Le Thi Thuy Trang

Start a business with cactus

Along with her studies, Le Thi Thuy Trang decided to stick with cactus in her entrepreneurial journey. She spent time researching and learning about the characteristics of each type of cactus and how to care for it. As she found joy in growing this plant, Trang planted more and shared it with people who shared the same interest.

During the COVID-19 outbreak, Trang quit her office job and spent more time with her “friend” cactus. Seeing that this type of plant grows well, is easy to propagate, especially many high-value varieties, Trang had the idea of starting a business.

“At first, I only had 300,000 VND to buy a few small cacti to take care of. Every time I shared pictures of my cactus plants on my personal page, I received a lot of attention, and some people asked to buy them. Therefore, I saved up money to buy seeds and propagate them in my home garden,” Trang shared.

Trang’s lack of knowledge about the characteristics of cactus plants sometimes caused her to lose her entire garden. However, not afraid of difficulties, she continued to learn, experiment with small models and expand them. And as a reward for her efforts, the cactus garden revived, at one point growing up to 300 types of cacti, succulents, and stone lotuses…

To create her own style for her cacti, Trang collects mutated, high-value cacti. Every month, the garden owner earns 20-30 million VND from selling cacti online.

“Currently, the cactus garden provides a stable income, and is also a leisurely job. Therefore, I want to try my hand at a new field, and I choose to teach life skills. I hope that, with what I have experienced and recognized the values of life, I will be able to spread positive energy to everyone” - Trang shared.

Like a cactus on the sand, Le Thi Thuy Trang's strong vitality and determined journey have "blossomed" and spread to the world a humane story about faith in life.
