Cao Dai religion has two important festivals in a year: the Great Festival of the Dieu Tri Palace Banquet and the God's birthday on January 9, to pray for favorable weather, national peace and prosperity.
This great ceremony has ancient origins, according to an ancient story of Emperor Han Wu receiving the Buddha Mother on the full moon night of the 8th lunar month. It was later accepted by Cao Dai and elevated to become an important part of its teachings and rituals.
Cao Dai followers and tourists from all over the world have been present in Tay Ninh for 3-4 days before the main festival takes place.
Thousands of people present admired the unique beauty of the dragon and horse dance performance, the four sacred animals with incense dragons, jade unicorns, turtles and phoenixes, and the ethnic orchestra officially taking place in front of the Holy Temple, Bao An Tu and parading through the East and West stands in the inner city area.
Every year, the Cao Dai Tay Ninh Holy See organizes two great festivals: the Lord's Birthday (January 9) and the Dieu Tri Palace Banquet (August 15). The Dieu Tri Palace Banquet is the biggest festival of the year of Cao Dai Tay Ninh, held on the full moon day of the Mid-Autumn Festival at Bao An Tu (Holy See's inner courtyard).
“In January and August, come back to Tay Ninh”, that is a familiar saying of people in provinces and cities, because this is a very special festival season that only exists in the border province of Tay Ninh.
The charitable actions at the Dieu Tri Palace Banquet have become a good tradition of Tay Ninh people and left beautiful images in the hearts of Cao Dai followers from all over the world as well as tourists when coming to this locality on the full moon day of the 8th lunar month every year.
Those who come to cook for tourists are all volunteers and happy.
The festival gathers hundreds of people so huge amounts of food have to be cooked.
