Chairwoman of the Bac Kan Provincial Fatherland Front Committee Do Thi Minh Hoa said that, towards welcoming the 7th Congress of the Bac Kan Provincial Fatherland Front for the 2024-2029 term, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province has been promoting activities for the poor and social security programs. Along with focusing on mobilizing organizations and individuals to participate in supporting resources for the "For the Poor" Fund, the Fatherland Front has coordinated with the People's Committee at the same level to review the list of poor and near-poor households in need of housing to proactively plan support for repairing and building solidarity houses.

The selected beneficiaries are poor households, those affected by natural disasters, those living in temporary or dilapidated houses, those who have not yet received or have received housing support policies from other projects implemented in the province but whose houses are now damaged, collapsed, and unsafe in the event of floods, storms, etc. Households in need, who have land to build houses but do not have the means to pay or the ability to do it themselves.

“After checking 8 districts, the city has 615 households with extremely difficult housing conditions. Many houses are small, only 12 square meters, mostly temporary houses, houses with bamboo walls, thatched roofs or rotten cement sheets. There are mixed wooden houses, with an area of less than 40 square meters, but there are 5 to 7 people living together. In particular, some households currently do not have houses due to damage and collapse after the storm that occurred in early April 2024,” Ms. Hoa informed.

To ensure publicity, transparency, and the right beneficiaries, the Bac Kan Provincial Fatherland Front Committee has coordinated with the Public Security Department to thoroughly review the current status, population, and income of each household to ensure fairness, prioritizing poorer and more disadvantaged households first. In addition to ensuring the selection of 500 households to support the construction of Great Unity houses this time, the remaining households will also have their information collected and stored. When there is a program or project, it will be reviewed and approved.

Immediately after reviewing the list of 500 poor households supported to build Great Unity houses, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and the Bac Kan Provincial Police are making efforts to speed up the progress to complete and finish 250 houses before July 30. The roadmap is set to the end of December 2024, all 500 houses will be handed over and put into use for poor households. The houses built are prefabricated houses, ensuring the "3 hard" criteria, and are handed over in the form of "turnkey". The construction cost is 60 million VND/house and is equipped with an additional stainless steel water tank. The total construction cost is 30 billion VND, taken from the "For the Poor" Fund of Bac Kan province, receiving support from Bac Ninh province.
