The whole province currently has nearly 3,000 nurses (91.9% have college degrees or higher), accounting for nearly 60% of the health sector's human resources, so this is a force that plays an important role in accompanying and taking care of the health of patients, and is a strong arm for doctors in monitoring the condition and progress of patients.

Patient Nguyen Thi Long (Thach Trung Ward, Ha Tinh City) said: “I was dizzy and numb on one side of my body and was taken to the provincial General Hospital for emergency care at 4am. My family was alone and my children were far away, but thanks to the nurses’ enthusiastic care and support, my hardships were somewhat reduced. From nutrition to medication, infusions, etc., the nurses guided and reminded me every day.”

Nurse Tran Sy Thang - Head of Nursing Department of the Provincial General Hospital said: “Every day, the hospital's nursing team receives and cares for about 1,200 inpatients and 1,100 outpatients. The duties and responsibilities of a nurse are not only to care for patients but also to act as an important bridge between patients and doctors and hospitals. As a companion, close to the patient, the information of the nurse plays a huge role in reaching the final result of the patient recovering soon and returning to daily life."

At Ha Tinh City Medical Center, in addition to constantly improving professional quality, the professionalism and dedication in reception and care have created great trust from patients. Every day, the center receives over 400 inpatients and 700 - 800 outpatients. Despite the large workload and pressure, the nursing team still handles all stages well, especially guiding, monitoring and caring for patients.

The nursing team is always directly guiding and listening to suggestions from patients.

It is known that currently, all medical units in the province have nursing branches and nursing departments. The branches and nursing departments always coordinate, proactively guide and help members to perform their tasks well. As people who are close, on duty, observing "every move" of patients, when there are unusual developments, the nursing team is always the first to grasp and inform the doctors to promptly adjust and change the treatment regimen, contributing to increasing the effectiveness of treatment.

In addition, the nursing team also performs well in activities such as: "5S Festival", cleaning the environment on Saturdays and Sundays; planting and taking care of trees, flower gardens, and ornamental plants; cutting hair, washing hair, and taking care of hygiene for patients; giving gifts, distributing rice and porridge to seriously ill patients and patients in difficult circumstances... In particular, the nursing team also participates in voluntary blood donation, promptly saving the lives of many dangerous cases.

Patients always receive great encouragement, sharing and motivation from the nursing team during the treatment process.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc - Director of the Department of Health said that the team of nurses, technicians, and midwives at medical facilities have played an important role in implementing patient care and service activities, and are the ones who connect patients with medical facilities. In recent times, the sector has always paid attention to and focused on training and improving the capacity of the nursing team through organizing competitions to improve skills, communication skills, procedures, and regulations in performing professional tasks. The good news is that currently, the capacity and professional qualifications of the nursing team at medical facilities in the province are increasingly improved, gradually meeting the requirements and tasks. In the coming time, the sector will continue to direct medical facilities to pay more attention and create more conditions for the team of nurses and technicians to attend training to improve their professional qualifications, especially in-depth expertise, thereby fulfilling the mission of caring for and protecting the health of the people.
