How are the Vietnamese people who were just rescued in the Philippines doing now?

According to the Vietnamese Embassy in the Philippines, on May 4, Philippine authorities rescued more than 1,000 people, including Vietnamese citizens, who were forced to work at a facility owned by Clark Sun Valley Hub Group in Pampanga, near the capital Manila. These people are currently staying safely at a facility arranged by Philippine authorities.

Immediately after receiving the information, on May 6 and May 9, the Vietnamese Embassy in the Philippines visited, interviewed, listed and collected information of Vietnamese citizens; and provided medical support to some people affected by health problems.

The Embassy is currently working closely with local authorities to develop a plan to support citizens after the Philippines issues a final conclusion on the incident.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also directed the Consular Department to invite the Philippine Embassy in Vietnam on May 9 and request the Philippine side to support, firstly ensure accommodation for Vietnamese citizens, promptly notify the Vietnamese side of the residence status of these citizens, support Vietnam in repatriating citizens who are not granted residence in the Philippines as soon as possible; request the Philippine side to increase cooperation in handling the situation of Vietnamese citizens being forced to work and strictly handle violating establishments.

Earlier, international media reported that on May 4, Philippine authorities raided a cluster of buildings in Mabalacat City, about 90 km north of Manila, to rescue a total of 1,090 people. These victims were held captive and forced to commit online scams.

According to Philippine police, the victims were mainly Chinese, Filipino, Indonesian citizens... Authorities also rescued people from Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam...
