According to many recorded documents, in the Ede language, "dray" means waterfall, "sap" means smoke. From afar, the waterfall area is only seen as a white, hazy area in the middle of the mountains and forests. At a height of more than 10 m, 120 - 150 m wide on the Serepok River, Dray Sap was formed by the basalt flow of the Nam Blang volcano erupting and covered by layers of sediment. Up to now, there are still many volcanic rocks at the foot of the waterfall.
The indigenous Ede people say that Dray Sap waterfall is associated with the legend of a couple's love.
In the past, this place was a wild, mysterious mountain forest, rarely visited by people. One day, a young Ede couple came to this area to pick vegetables and dig for fruits to make a living. Unfortunately, the husband fell seriously ill. The wife, named H'Mi, went deep into the forest to find leaves to use as medicine to treat her husband. However, her husband's illness became more and more serious. H'Mi bit her finger and sucked her blood in the hope that her husband could recover, but she could not overcome fate. H'Mi's beloved husband breathed his last in her arms.
Mourning her husband, H'Mi cried and wailed for many days and nights. Her cries echoed far and wide, throughout the mountains and forests, causing the birds to not want to eat and the trees to not want to sprout and bloom.

In the sky, Giang heard H'Mi's cry. Pitying her tragic love on earth, Giang created this waterfall, symbolizing H'Mi's tears flowing, carving into nature a symbol of a woman's love for her husband.
Winding quietly through the forest, the Serepok River is emerald green, with many rocks lying undulating in the middle of the river. At Dray Sap, the river splits into two branches, lowering its height to form a majestic waterfall, with water pouring down the valley day and night like the voice of the heart, the love story of H'Mi.
