Happiness overflows upon receiving good news after 3 failed embryo transfers
Ms. H. is nearly 40 years old but has never been a mother, even though she has undergone many IUI (intrauterine insemination) and IVF (in vitro fertilization) procedures, but all failed for unknown reasons.
Deciding to place her last hope at the Reproductive Support Center, Vinmec Times City International General Hospital, Ms. H. was directly treated by Dr. To Minh Huong, who has 40 years of experience in the field of obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive support.

After performing in-depth tests, the doctor discovered that Ms. H. had ovulation disorders due to polycystic ovaries, along with uterine polyps and chronic endometritis. Notably, Ms. H.'s husband also had abnormalities in chromosomes 13 and 14, increasing the risk of miscarriage or fetal malformations.
For complicated cases like Ms. H., Vinmec has implemented a personalized treatment regimen in a systematic and scientific manner. Ms. H. underwent a hysteroscopy to remove polyps and treat endometritis, then carefully screened the embryos. Fortunately, 3 out of 4 embryos were screened to meet the standards and retained for embryo transfer.
However, despite having quality embryos, Ms. H.'s journey still encountered many challenges. Doctors had to adjust the treatment regimen 3 times to ensure that the uterine lining was eligible for embryo transfer. Thanks to the dedicated support and proper treatment of Dr. Huong and the Center for Reproductive Support, Vinmec Times City International General Hospital, in May 2022, Ms. H. was officially pregnant successfully - marking a turning point in her family's arduous journey to find a child.
Sweet fruits from IVF and perseverance before the "storm"
The joy was not complete when a new challenge came. At the 24th week of pregnancy, Ms. H. showed signs of premature birth. Immediately, the Vinmec medical team performed an emergency cervical cerclage and medical treatment to maintain the pregnancy, trying to prolong the pregnancy day by day to ensure the baby's safety. However, only 4 weeks later, the baby was born at the 28th week, weighing only 1,100 grams.
Vinmec Times City has demonstrated its professionalism and excellent multidisciplinary handling of the situation in this birth. The team was divided into two specialized groups: one group handled the mother after birth, the other provided emergency respiratory support and took the baby to the intensive care unit (NICU). With a baby born too early, unable to breathe on its own and facing the risk of infection, lung damage and brain complications, the Vinmec team performed non-invasive ventilation, combined with antibiotics and closely monitored to protect the baby's every breath.
The biggest challenge comes when the ductus arteriosus – a blood vessel that should have closed after birth – persists, seriously threatening the baby’s development. If not treated promptly, the risk of heart and respiratory failure is inevitable. Thanks to their determination and solid expertise, Vinmec doctors successfully intervened with medication, helping the baby overcome the jaws of death spectacularly.
After 53 days of treatment, the “IVF baby” was taken out of the incubator weighing 2,300 grams, without complications or sequelae – a miracle that bears the mark of the dedication and high level of expertise of the Vinmec medical team. Currently, the baby is 24 months old and developing healthily like his peers, bringing happiness not only to Ms. H.’s family but also to all the medical staff of the Vinmec Reproductive Support Center who have accompanied him on this journey.
Sharing about her miraculous journey, Ms. H. emotionally said: “I chose to put my complete trust in Vinmec doctors, because I am sure that the doctors always know what is best for me and my baby. What really touched me was that all the doctors in the treatment team remembered very clearly the story and condition of me and my baby. From the fertility doctor, obstetrician, ultrasound doctor, neonatologist… not a single detail was missed, not a single moment was forgotten.”

Statistics worldwide show that the live birth rate after each embryo transfer cycle ranges from 32-39% in women under 35 years old and decreases with age. However, at Vinmec, the success rate is up to 49.4% - surpassing the average and on par with the world's leading IVF centers. This is the result of the perfect combination of leading experts, advanced technology and Vinmec's closed multidisciplinary care model.
According to Dr. To Minh Huong, Ms. H’s IVF case is a typical success story of the multidisciplinary approach to care at Vinmec Times City. “ The Reproductive Support Center helps patients get pregnant, the Obstetrics Department treats threatened premature birth, and the Neonatology Department ensures care for premature babies after birth. Vinmec’s goal is not only to help couples get pregnant, but also to bring healthy babies home .”
With an outstanding IVF success rate, Vinmec not only nurtures happiness for thousands of infertile families, but also fully accompanies them during the pregnancy care process and ensures healthy babies are born. The closed multidisciplinary care model, combining advanced technology and a team of leading experts, is a strong commitment from Vinmec, accompanying families on the journey of "bringing their babies home".
