Farmers help each other escape poverty

Over the years, Farmers' Associations across the country have implemented many practical and creative models to help farmers increase their income and escape poverty sustainably.

Typical examples are models of growing specialty fruit trees, developing livestock in the direction of biological safety, linking production with product consumption... Along with that is support for loans, transfer of science and technology, vocational training, building cooperatives and cooperatives. Thanks to that, many farming households have not only escaped poverty but also become well-off.

One of the typical examples in the movements to support farmers in production and economic development to escape poverty is the Farmers' Association of Phu Xuyen Commune (Hanoi). According to Mr. Phan Duy Hung - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Phu Xuyen Commune, in recent times, the Association has actively mobilized and guided farmers to participate in restructuring in agriculture, building models in clean agricultural production that bring high economic efficiency such as large-scale rice, fish, and duck fields; online sales service models, production in craft villages, application of scientific and technical advances, digital transformation, bringing high-value plant and animal varieties into production, creating jobs for more than 15,000 workers in the commune.

In particular, every year the Association has organized a competition for members to compete in good production and business, with 6,882 households registering for good production and business at all levels. Through evaluation, 2,280 households have achieved the title of good production and business at all levels and proposed to be rewarded by the Association at all levels.

In addition, the Association also encourages and mobilizes members to boldly build and replicate new agricultural production models such as: Vietgap vegetable production of Vinh Ha Company, black grapes for export, organic livestock farming, growing high-quality fruit trees, aquaculture using new technology, etc. Many models have brought practical results, increased income, and created jobs for members.

Through practical support activities, the Farmers' Association of Phu Xuyen commune has made an important contribution to renewing production thinking, encouraging farmers to develop the economy in the direction of sustainable cooperation and association, thanks to which many farming households have escaped poverty and become rich sustainably. This is a clear demonstration of the effective implementation of the National Target Program on sustainable poverty reduction and the emulation movement "For the poor - Leaving no one behind".

Another typical example that cannot be ignored is the Farmers' Association of Phinh Ho commune (Lao Cai). Immediately after the merger, Farmers' Associations at all levels in the province proactively advised the Party Committee and the government to propagate and mobilize cadres, members and farmers to register for emulation, actively participate in economic development movements; coordinate to promote activities to directly support farmers in science - technology, seeds, capital, production and business linkage; change the structure of crops and livestock, expand the scale of production and business; open vocational training classes...

This support has become an important driving force to help tens of thousands of farming households effectively exploit the potential of land, labor and available local resources to invest in production and business. As a result, thousands of households have escaped poverty, many have even become rich.

In Dien Bien, recently, the Farmers' Association of Dien Bien province has also promoted the emulation movement "Farmers produce and do business well, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably". Good economic models have been widely deployed such as: Cultivation associated with the application of science and technology, animal husbandry in the direction of biological safety, development of production - consumption chain models of agricultural products. Along with that, farmer members also actively support each other with capital, plant varieties, animal breeds and production experience, helping poor and near-poor households to gradually stabilize and escape poverty.

Currently, the whole province has 7,006 households participating in the emulation movement, of which 3,532 households have been recognized with the title, an increase of 115 households compared to last year. The valuable thing is that, not only have they risen up to escape poverty and become rich legitimately, many farming households have also actively shared their experiences, supported capital and working days for more difficult households, creating a wide spread influence so that more and more families are helped to develop their economy, escape poverty sustainably, and rural life is increasingly improving.

This is an important foundation for these localities to continue to successfully implement the goals of sustainable poverty reduction, building cultural life, protecting the environment and comprehensive socio-economic development.
