Nguyen Luong Bang Commune has more than 160 hectares of specialized vegetable and spice cultivation. This has been a strength in local agricultural production for many years. Green onions are the main crop in this specialized area, accounting for more than 70% of the growing area. Besides green onions, farmers in Nguyen Luong Bang commune also grow spices such as coriander, onions, leeks... to supply the market. The land use coefficient in the vegetable and spice growing area in Nguyen Luong Bang commune is very high, from 6 to 8 crops/year. Therefore, people often intercrop vegetables to improve the soil. Workers in the vegetable and spice growing area of Nguyen Luong Bang commune are mainly elderly people, but they are very quick to adapt to new production methods. Not only is Nguyen Luong Bang commune the first place in West Hai Phong to grow vegetables according to safe processes, but it is also a pioneer in applying water-saving irrigation to production.
