This year, Mr. Hau A Lung's family sowed 6 kg of seeds, including VL3009 and local varieties. These days, family members are busy dredging canals, bringing water to the fields, and preparing the land for rice planting. Mr. Hau A Lung, Mao Sao Chai village, Sin Cheng commune, Si Ma Cai district, shared: "Last year, my family could only plant 0.5 hectares because the weather was too dry. This year, my family planted 1 hectare with VL3009 varieties, local varieties, and local glutinous rice."
These days in the fields of Sin Cheng commune, people are gathering in the fields, each person doing a job, plowing the land, making banks, pulling up seedlings, some households have started planting rice. The households are all excited because the weather is currently very favorable, cool, rainy, enough water for planting. Mr. Thao A Hoa, Mao Sao Chai hamlet, Sin Cheng commune, Simacai district shared: “This year the weather is favorable. The rain is earlier than every year, so my family took advantage of working early to bring water to irrigate the fields. Last year, due to the prolonged sunshine, some fields could not be worked out so they switched to growing corn. This year, the rain is early, I will plant all my fields.”
It is expected that Sin Cheng commune will complete the winter-spring rice planting in early June.
According to the plan, this year's crop, Sin Cheng commune will plant nearly 240 hectares of rice. To ensure the crop schedule, the Party Committee and the government actively propagate and mobilize people to take advantage of the rainy weather, quickly plow the land, and bring water to the fields. At the same time, prepare seeds and materials for production. Currently, the locality has planted more than 20% of the area, and is expected to complete it in early June. Mr. Vang A Phu, Vice Chairman of Sin Cheng Commune People's Committee, Simacai District, said: "This year's weather is favorable for people to do farming. People have proactively plowed and harrowed earlier than every year, the local government has directed agricultural extension officers, officers in charge of agriculture and forestry to coordinate with people and propagate to people to choose good seedlings to plant".
In the 2024 crop, Simacai district will plant about 1,800 hectares. Under the direction of the district, localities are focusing on land preparation, agricultural materials preparation and other conditions. In some lowland communes such as Sin Cheng, Ban Me, Nan Sin... people are starting to plant, and the peak planting season will be in June./.
