Farmers build chain links in production

In Tran Phu commune, many households actively participate in chain linkage models in agricultural production. The whole commune currently has 5 cooperatives operating in the field of cultivation and livestock breeding, linking with hundreds of households through the supply of seeds, animals, fertilizers and technical guidance on production.

In the area, there are more than 50 hectares of vegetables grown in a chain, along with over 15,000 chickens and more than 1,000 pigs raised each year. When it comes to harvest, cooperatives purchase and consume all products for farmers. This model helps people switch from small-scale production to concentrated commodity production, while cooperatives proactively provide a stable supply source for the market and associated partners.

Sharing about the effectiveness of the winter crop model, Ms. Hoang Thi Hong, Khau Pan village, Tran Phu commune, said: In the past, after harvesting the summer-autumn rice, the fields were often left fallow. Since the cooperative implemented the sweet corn and potato growing model, her family has actively participated. Winter crop growing not only helps improve the soil but also creates a significant source of income for the family.

According to Mr. Phan Van Tuan, Director of Tran Phu Cooperative, the unit coordinates with local authorities to implement many programs and projects to support poverty reduction, and at the same time organizes training courses and transfers production techniques to people.

"When farmers have products, the cooperative commits to purchasing and consuming them at stable market prices, helping people feel secure in production and stick with the linkage model for a long time," Mr. Tuan shared.

Not only in Tran Phu, the movement of linking production according to the value chain is being focused on and expanded by the Farmers' Association of Thai Nguyen province. In particular, two prominent models of tea trees in La Bang and Dong Hy communes stand out.

In addition, many typical cooperatives have clearly promoted their effectiveness: Yen Duong Cooperative (Thuong Minh commune) linked up to consume green squash, dong vermicelli, and Tai sticky rice with OCOP products achieving 3-4 stars; Bao Chau Medicinal Herbs Cooperative (Van Lang commune) signed a contract to consume processed herbal products; Minh Anh Cooperative (Bac Kan ward) supplied agricultural materials and produced mushrooms with 6 products achieving 3-star OCOP...

Many farming households in the province have focused on developing aquaculture.

Farmers' associations at all levels also actively support members in linking with enterprises to supply materials, consume products, build concentrated commodity production areas and develop 301 OCOP products of the province. This activity contributes to forming a closed value chain from production to consumption, creating stable jobs, increasing the value of agricultural products and increasing the competitiveness of local products in the market.

In many localities, the cooperation model between farmers and businesses in the production of tea, safe vegetables, livestock and poultry farming, etc. has helped improve productivity and quality, meeting market demands. Through the linkage, people are guided on technical processes, ensuring output and minimizing risks in production.

Farmers' associations at all levels play an important role as a bridge, actively promoting and mobilizing members to join cooperatives and cooperatives; at the same time, providing capital, science and technology support, helping people expand their production scale. Many localities have formed concentrated production areas, linked with processing and consumption of products according to the value chain, contributing to increasing income and promoting new rural construction.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Diep, Vice Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Thai Nguyen province: Promoting production linkages according to value chains not only opens up a direction for sustainable development for agriculture, but also affirms the position of farmers as the main subjects in the market economy.

The Provincial Farmers' Association has advised the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the People's Council for approval and promulgation of a Resolution on the Project to improve the organization and operation of the Provincial Farmers' Support Fund; at the same time, promoting consultation and support for farmers, transferring science and technology, providing agricultural materials, promoting and introducing products.

Currently, the Association is actively implementing Action Program No. 62-CTr/TU dated January 23, 2025 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee to implement Resolution No. 57 on science, technology development and digital transformation. This is an important basis to promote the application of high technology, digital transformation in agricultural production, improve productivity, quality and economic efficiency, towards modern and sustainable agriculture.
